1 dead after 3-alarm fire in Jersey City, official says

JERSEY CITY -- One person has died following a three-alarm fire on West Side Avenue last night, a city spokeswoman said.

The fire started shortly after 6 p.m. at 410 West Side Ave., a two story home near Kearney Avenue. The fire then spread to neighboring 412 West Side Ave., which has a bar on the ground level.

Jersey City spokeswoman Jennifer Morrill said one person was pronounced dead after the fire.

Authorities over the radio said the victim was in traumatic arrest when they found him. Three people were taken to the hospital with injuries, according to the transmissions.
