Just got a call from someone advising me that PSE&G's computer systems did not record payment and that technicians would shut off our power at 4:30pm today. When asked for the account number, they gave some lame excuse about how their computer system was updating and he could not access that information. I asked for a number to call them back at, and a person (not a robot!) picked up and said "This is PESG Power how may I direct your call?" at which point I laughed at them and hung up.

I was skeptical from the beginning with it being a Vermont area code but figured they might be outsourcing. Seems that there is a lot of scam action coming from these Vermont numbers (http://800notes.com/AreaCode.aspx/1-802). Do not tell them anything. If there is supposedly a problem with your account, call PSE&G directly!
