There is a cop at that corner by Chase during daytime for the construction nearby. After few teens robbing people nearby a month ago and another person being shot to death about same time in a nearby deli you would think that they would have at least one marked car nearby.
Every time I drive by police precincts I see so many marked cars just parked there.

Probably the cop by the construction is off duty. The amount of cars exceeds the number of officers. Budget and lack of man power seems to be case along with priority policing.

Why don't we have an auxiliary police for like NYC to patrol the neighborhoods and for community events?

what's a 14 year old doing out at 4am!

Considering these were tourists, maybe they were on going to, or coming from, the airport. Either way, I don't think it's that big of deal, considering the child was with adults.

Sucks guns were involved but at least no one was hurt.

Three gunpoint robberies in Jersey City; van common to two of the incidents, police say

By Julie Kayzerman/ The Jersey Journal
on June 22, 2014 at 2:16 PM, updated June 22, 2014 at 2:51 PM

Several people were robbed at gunpoint during three separate incidents in Jersey City early this morning. The gunmen fled the scene in a similar-looking van in two of the incidents, authorities said.

At about 4 a.m., two armed males robbed four people near Christopher Columbus Drive and Warren Street, Jersey City police spokesman Bob McHugh said.

The robbers fled in a van that was later found abandoned at the Marion Gardens housing complex on Dales Avenue, McHugh said.

The victims were three adults, ages 24, 28, and 32, and a 14-year-old child, all from Brampton, Canada, he said.

Shortly after this incident, a 25-year-old Jersey City man told police he was robbed by two men pointing guns near Fairview and Bergen avenues. The victim reported that the gunmen were using a van similar to the one used in the earlier robbery, McHugh said.

In an earlier incident, two other people ? an 18-year-old Jersey City man and a 17-year-old West New York teen -- were robbed at gunpoint at about 3:30 a.m. on Terrace Avenue, McHugh said.

The robbery victims were not harmed. Officials did not say what was taken from them.

Anyone with information about these robberies should call the Jersey City Police Department tipline at (201) 547-JAIL.
