The man who was found on a Jersey City sidewalk last night bleeding from his head was pronounced dead at Christ Hospital at hour later, authorities said today. The man, whose identity has not been released, was found unconscious at 8:30 p.m. on Thorne Street, between Summit Avenue and Kennedy Boulevard. Emergency medical technicians performed CPR on the man, who had injuries to his hands and head, and he was taken to the hospital. Jersey City police responded and are continuing to investigate, although foul play is not suspected, Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor Gene Rubino said. Rubino said an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death. Neighbors in the Heights section of the city said the man was bleeding from his head when he was found. People interviewed on Thorne Street this morning did not believe the man lived in the neighborhood.
