A 42-year-old Jersey City man died after overdosing on heroin in the bathroom of a Stop & Shop store in Point Pleasant on Jan. 10, according to Ocean County Prosecutor's Office spokesman Al Della Fave. Brian E. Cox of Merritt Street died around the same time as two other men who overdosed on heroin in Ocean County so far this year - a 32-year-old Seaside Heights man who died on Jan. 11 and another person who died in Ocean Gate on Jan. 8 - Della Fave said. Authorities believe that Cox's death and the death of the Seaside Heights man may be linked to a batch of tainted heroin found in wax folds with "Bud Light" printed on them in red, The Star-Ledger previously reported. Autopsies have not been completed in either death, and police have yet to conduct toxicology reports on the confiscated drugs, but Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph Coronato issued a warning as a precaution last Monday. "These overdoses may have been caused by a batch of heroin that included toxic elements which prove fatal without medical attention," Coronato warned. The Star-Ledger reported last summer that heroin and prescription overdoses have risen in the state and have skyrocketed in Ocean County
