A Jersey City man was shot, and two cars and a house were damaged by bullets, on Ocean Avenue at around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, police say.

Witnesses told police that a man was walking backwards, south on Ocean Avenue, while firing a weapon.

When a man in a white T-shirt, who was bleeding, started running from the gunman, the man with the gun started chasing him, first on Ocean, then on Bidwell Avenue, witnesses told cops.

Police found a total of 14 spent shell casings on Ocean Avenue, as well as a blue Pontiac with a bullet hole through one of its rear-view mirrors and a bullet graze on its fender, and a silver Chrysler with two bullet holes and fragments of bullets under the car and on the dashboard.

An Ocean Avenue man, sitting in his home playing video games, was grazed on his fingernail by a bullet that passed through his wall, but was not injured and refused medical attention, police said.

Another man was taken to Jersey City Medical Center for a scrape on his leg he got when he fell while running from the shooting scene.
