After robbing nuts and soda, robbers return to steal $160 cash from Jersey City deli

When two males stole bags of nuts and two sodas from a Summit Avenue deli Tuesday afternoon, the 17-year-old son of the store owner decided not to call the cops.

Perhaps he wished he had.

Two hours after they first stole items from the Jersey City deli on Summit between Academy and Newkirk streets, the two males returned around 6:30 p.m. and ordered the 17-year-old to give them money from the cash register, police reports said.

When the teen refused, one of the suspects told him, "Then fight me ... Come outside and let's do this," reports said.

After the owner's son refused to leave the store, one of the suspects punched him on the right side of his face and swiped $160 cash from the register, reports said.
