A Jersey City store employee was struck with the barrel of a handgun and robbed at gunpoint of $1,150 at 9:40 p.m. Tuesday, Jersey City police said.
The employee was behind the counter at the variety store on Martin Luther King Drive when a man -- described as slim and 6 feet tall, wearing a dark, hooded sweatshirt -- entered the store, pulled out a silver handgun and demanded money, reports said. Initially the 64-year-old store clerk refused, but the assailant struck the man in the head, causing a laceration, police said. The worker then handed over $1,150 and the robber fled north on MLK Drive and then west on Oak Street, police said. http://www.nj.com/hudson/index.ssf/20 ... ikes_clerk_robs_1150.html
