Exiting the Pulaski Skyway is hard, but next year it will get easier

Ongoing rehabilitation work of the 86-year-old Pulaski Skyway is in the ?out of sight, out of mind? phase, unless you?re a driver who normally uses one of three exits that have been closed for construction since April 2014.

Those exits have been missed by drivers and commuters who want to get out of traffic back-ups on the Skyway?s northbound lanes.

Technically, rehab work started over 10 years ago, but the current effort started in mid April, 2014, when eastbound traffic was suspended. It is INSANE that almost 6 years later that bridge is still undergoing rehab work.

Almost four years on and STILL not complete. Amazing - your tax dollars hard at work.

Pulaski Skyway to be closed in both directions Saturday and Sunday for repair work

The Pulaski Skyway will be closed in both directions this weekend for structural steel work as the rehabilitation of the 87-year-old bridge continues, state Department of Transportation officials said.

The closure begins at 2 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, and the span that connects Jersey City with Kearny and Newark will be reopened at 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9.
