Posted on July 17, 2017 at 12:39 PM By Michaelangelo Conte The Jersey Journal A man was arrested this morning when police found him howling in pain inside the trash compactor of a Downtown Jersey City high-rise, a police source said. The man, whose name was not immediately released, suffered compound fractures of both legs, the source said. At 11:30 a.m. the man was being treated in an ambulance at the scene and his screams could be heard nearby. Just after 10 a.m. police responded to reports of a man armed with a knife attempting to break into cars along Newport Parkway in the Newport neighborhood of the city, the source said. When the man was spotted, he fled into one of the high-rises along River Drive. The source said he had a knife when he was being chased by police officers, but when he was found, police could not locate the knife. Police did not immediately say what charges the man will face. It could not be determined if the man injured himself by jumping in a trash chute and falling to the compactor, or if the compactor went into operation and crushed his legs. http://www.nj.com/hudson/index.ssf/20 ... und_in_trash_compact.html
