on April 12, 2017 at 1:38 PM, updated April 12, 2017 at 1:43 PM Two men were injured in a pair of shootings within seven hours of each other in Jersey City on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, authorities said. Jersey City police are investigating a shooting incident in which a 34-year-old Orchard Street man was shot in the buttocks on Martin Luther King Drive and Myrtle Avenue just before 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jersey City spokeswoman Jennifer Morrill said. The victim, who was uncooperative with police and left the scene, was found about five blocks away on Stegman Street and transported to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment of the non life-threatening injury, Morrill said. Police later responded to a shooting incident on Rutgers Avenue where a 27-year-old Orient Avenue man was shot in the elbow just after 12:30 a.m, Morrill said. The victim was taken to Jersey City Medical Center where he was treated and released for the non life-threatening injury, Morrill added. The sites of the two shootings are approximately 1.5 miles apart. The investigations into both shootings are ongoing, Morrill said.
