Car thefts in general are inching down because cars are becoming more secure, they say, but car thieves are changing their game plans by targeting areas that have older cars that may be easier to steal.

If you live on the West Side or in Greenville or Bergen-Lafayette, they say, make sure your car is locked, even if you think it's not fancy enough to catch a car thief's attention.
