A Jersey City man driving a stolen station wagon tried to run over a police officer on a bicycle following a brief chase in the Jersey City Heights earlier this week, according to police. Christopher Baez, 19, of Central Avenue, is charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, obstructing a governmental function, receiving stolen property, and burglary. On Monday, a bike-mounted Jersey City police officer was patrolling the area of Summit Avenue near Graham Street when he stopped a gold 2003 Buick Rendezvous station wagon being driven by Baez because of loud music coming from the vehicle, according to a police report. After the officer dismounted his bicycle and approached the car, Baez sped away north on Summit Avenue, police said. More
