A Union City man who was offered work for the day was instead robbed at gunpoint of $150 in cash and a $480 phone, Jersey City police said.

The 20-year-old Bergenline Avenue man told police he was walking on Summit Avenue in Jersey City Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. when he was approached by a man who asked if he wanted to work for the day, a police report said.

The victim agreed, and they walked to Leonard Street, where the man told the 20-year-old he needed to go to Western Union to get cash.
