A Jersey City man made his first court appearance today on charges he smoked marijuana with his 15-year-old daughter before sexually assaulting her in August, officials said.

The 33-year-old Heights man charged with aggravated sexual assault, endangering the welfare of the child and child abuse appeared in Central Judicial Processing court in Jersey City via video link from Hudson County jail in Kearny.

?The defendant smoked marijuana with (name omitted) then had (name omitted) remove her pants and? sexually assaulted her, the criminal complaint says of the girl?s biological father who was arrested yesterday.

Court officials said there are about a dozen warrants for the father's arrest on motor vehicle violations and one drug charge out of Jersey City, North Bergen and Clifton.

The 33-year-old?s bail was to be set later in Superior Court with a prosecutor from the Hudson County Prosecutor?s Office?s Special Victims Unit present.
