Jersey City police recovered a loaded .357 magnum from a backyard on Congress Street yesterday afternoon and arrested a city man who was later charged with drug offenses as well, official said.

Shurquan Sweet, 22, was arrested after the gun was recovered around 12:30 p.m. near Sherman Avenue and charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and receiving stolen property, a police report says. He was also charged with possession with intent to distribute 21 grams of suspected marijuana and 44 grams of suspected ecstasy, police said.
