Jersey City police are searching for a man they say stole a purse from a Bowers Street woman as she was walking home early this morning, reports state. The 43-year-old Jersey City woman had been walking home early shortly after midnight when a man came from behind her at Bowers Street and New York Avenue and grabbed her purse, reports state. The woman said she struggled with the man, but he got away, and fled south on New York Avenue, reports state. Police canvassed the area, but were unable to find the robber, reports state. Inside the purse, the woman said she had her Social Security card, a PNC debit card, $24 dollars in cash, a Family First card and her insurance card, reports state. Anyone with information is asked to call (201) 547-JAIL.
