A 32-year-old Jersey City woman was thrown to the ground and robbed after she got off a light rail train at the Liberty State Park station at 12:50 a.m. Saturday, police said.
The Whiton Street resident told police that when she got off the train, four boys, who appeared to be ages 15 to 17, started following her as she walked north on Wilson Street and then west on Johnston Avenue, reports said.
The woman said that as she approached Johnston and Whiton Street, the males jumped her from behind.
They knocked her to the ground, grabbed her handbag, and fled north on Whiton, police said.
The woman said she ran home and alerted her husband who tried to chase after the muggers, reports said.
He didn't find them, but he did find her handbag on Van Horne Street and all the items in the bag were recovered except the woman's cell phone, reports said, adding the woman wasn't carrying any cash.
The woman sustained various cuts and bruises but didn't go to the hospital, reports said
