A car maneuvering in a parking lot near Journal Square nearly went off a cliff onto train tracks this evening.

The incident took place at Cottage street and Herbert Place, according to news photographer Joe Shine.

Firefighters responded to the scene and pulled the vehicle back onto the road. The driver self-extricated, officials said.

No other information was immediately available.

From JJ comments Quote:

?d?j? vu all over again". Hey put 134 Cottage Street, Jersey City, NJ in Goggle map satellite view. Check out the parking lot(s). How does the city let property owners get away with stuff like that? Can I pave my property and fit as many cars a possible on it? Oh wait for some reason it is anything goes on Newark Ave (India Square) So many illegal rear building extensions, basement stores and apartments. Gee sort of reminds me of India. I wonder if it also comes with the notorious India bribes. ,
