After the portable toilet crashed to the ground, a city official and a representative of AJD Construction walked through the construction site to ensure that everything was secure, reports said.

Have faith that this opposition has worked to do some good and support the people's movement. We can feel good about being part of that. So please re-arrange your schedules and do your best to attend this critical meeting and support those individuals that are trying so hard to make a difference that will benefit all of us.

Gee whiz. My message was about the library board doing the right thing and not hiring that consultant. So I'll speak for myself.... I appreciate them not hiring that guy.

With all the smoke and complaining going on about how awfully managed our city administration is, this act by the library board was positive. Now the library (and the public) will most likely be punished for it.

And if you feel strongly that the library board did the right thing in squashing that bogus deal... why not call the library and tell them... because they're probably taking lots of heat for it now... like with cutbacks.

I used to write letters when I encountered poor customer service (actually I still do), but I've started to speak out more for the employees of companies that do great work and go out of there way. When someone impresses me than I feel it's my duty to make sure their manager knows what an asset they are. It goes a long way.

So please, call or write the library (board) and thank them for not hiring that consultant.

I have so so so much respect for the library board voting that wasteful consultant job down. It was so wrong for the job to have gotten as far as it did, on the table and all.

Too many City executives, consultants, heads of this, that and the other thing and in the end, in each and every City dept. there is so much disfunctional activity going on and people not doing their jobs. The City will continue to run in this manner and all the top people (and there's lots of them) will keep their cushy jobs and driving fancy cars and the administration will continue to cut the things they know that people want. They just won't cut themselves or their cronies.

Thank you library board for not giving into the bad guys!

The State sends inspectors to apartment and condo buildings every six years to check for smoke and co detectors and to make sure doors have door closures. When you pass inspection they send you an updated 8 1/2 x 11 State official document to be posted in the building that reflects the date of inspection.

I'm not familiar with City inspections for smoke and co detectors... to my knowledge, it has always been handled by the State.

Both Mr. Jasso and MoMA said they were unaware of what Ms. Young planned to do in her show. But she is fairly well established on the alternative theater circuit and has performed pieces like ?Tribute to Elliot? (rolling in her beloved pit bull?s ashes) and ?Snow White? (a tattered costume of the Disney princess, plus a dildo) in the U.S. and Europe.

Being "established" on the circuit fell short of their expectations. The organizers should research.. what the show is about before they book an event.

Bon voyage Ms. Young!

Jersey City cops say Bayonne doctor falsely claimed she was speeding to a dying patient's bedside

Doctor or no doctor, she isn't above the law. What an awesome Jersey City police officer!

Saturday, March 13, 2010

By MICHAELANGELO CONTE
JOURNAL STAFF WRITER

DR. GRACE PADUSZYNSKI
A Bayonne doctor pulled over in Jersey City Thursday was arrested when she struck a cop with her Mercedes after lying about being on her way to a life-and-death emergency at Bayonne Medical Center, authorities said.

Dr. Grace Paduszynski, 52, of West 26th Street, was arrested at 2:27 p.m. at Pavonia and Baldwin avenues and charged with assault by auto, resisting arrest, eluding police and obstructing a government function, reports said.

Officers at the intersection saw Paduszynski's 2006 black C280 speeding eastbound in the westbound lanes of Pavonia Avenue Thursday and stopped it, but she refused to hand over her paperwork, saying "I am a doctor on an emergency. My patient is dying. (I have to) go to Bayonne hospital," reports said.

The officer repeatedly asked Paduszynski for her paperwork, but she refused, and then grabbed her stethoscope, saying "Look, I'm a doctor, you have to let me go!" reports said.

When the officer asked for the paperwork again the doctor refused and drove away in a "reckless manner," striking the officer with the rear portion of her luxury car, reports said.

But Paduszynski was slowed by traffic and the officer ran to the Mercedes and ordered her several times to put the vehicle in park and remove the keys, reports said. The doctor responded, saying she was sorry and "I need to respond to the hospital. My patient is dying," reports said.
Paduszynski hit the gas again, but while the car was moving the officer opened the passenger side door, reached in and put the car in park, reports said.

The doctor then refused to get out of the vehicle and she smacked the officer's hand as he tried to undo her seat belt and blocked the officer from releasing the seat belt lock, report said.

Finally, the officer removed Paduszynski from the car and placed her under arrest, reports said. At the precinct, officers were about to call the BMC to check on Paduszynski's story when she admitted she "was not going to the hospital, but in fact just needed to go see her patients," reports said.

"This was really a nightmare," said Paduszynski yesterday morning, adding that she did nothing wrong, was treated roughly by police and was held 10 hours without her money or transportation.

She said she did not want to comment further because she had not talked to her lawyer.

Paduszynski, whose office is also on West 26th Street, was additionally issued motor vehicle summonses for reckless driving, crossing the yellow lines and making an improper lane change, reports said.

Bayonne Medical Center spokeswoman Allison Miller said: "The incident involving Dr. Grace Paduszynski was just brought to our attention. Bayonne Medical Center and the medical staff officials will be meeting with Dr. Paduszynski and taking the necessary and appropriate actions." Miller said Paduszynski does not work at the hospital, but she has medical privileges there, meaning her patients are treated there.

Two longtime Jersey City employees who collected big payouts upon retirement will not be returning as consultants.

Business Administrator Brian O'Reilly said the city is losing "knowledgeable senior employees" and retaining Grego and Dealy as consultants would "address the immediate needs."

The shared services agreement would have allowed Grego, who worked on the city's labor contract negotiations, the budget and capital project development, to work for both the library and city.

The agreement with Dealy, who worked on the budget, capital accounts and fiscal matters, would have allowed her to work for the MUA and on the city's budget.

Happy ending.

As for 'budget' experience, a group of high school students could do a better job. Balancing a checkbook is not rocket science.

Deptuy Mayor Beldini, stripper charged with 2 counts accepting bribes

City Council: Vega, indicted; Gaughan and Flood giving jobs to family members; Lopez, ran as a resident of Florida.

Let us not forget past Councilman Lipski pissing on a nightclub crowd. And from there on down the food chain. It would go on and on.

There's approx 2 council meetings per month. Surely we can find the time to attend even if we don't speak at every one. Problem is if we forget about it, we lose interest and give into other less important things like watching stupid TV programs and eating too much food. Let us make positive choices and changes in our lives AND our city.

Good questions to ask Gaughan at the next meeting. It could be interesting to hear him respond on record.

Is he afraid to leave a paper trail? If his constituents want to reach him, why must they have to take time off from their day jobs to make a trip to City hall? I have an idea, why don't we all write to him and request a response, in writing!

If his aide is his daughter, why is she more qualified than other job candidates of Jersey City? It's disgusting.

Remember the controversy involved with the bidding process for Hamilton park? Supposedly the developers of Hamilton square were awarded the job. Then complaints surfaced that the developer had knowledge of the other bids (inside info.) and used it to submit the lowest bid. As a result the bidding was done all over again and the job went to another contractor.

Does anyone have a copy of the article they could post?

McCann, who in 1992 had to resign during his second non-consecutive term as mayor after a federal bank fraud conviction, has remained active in Jersey City politics and currently serves on the city?s school board. He is a close ally and family friend of Sean Connors, a police detective and fellow school board member.

The city needs to be saving money, not hiring felons as part of a political deal for a Connors endorsement.?

So the Library axed the part time staff. But it isn?t mentioned they let library staff go in any of the recent news articles because I?ve gone back looking for it. It appears the City want us to believe the library was untouched. See below article from the Reporter:

?279 City workers axed?

?City Hall is going ahead with plans to lay off approximately 279 seasonal and provisional employees by the end of this month, officials said.? ?This wave of layoffs is just the start. Morrill added, ?A workforce reduction for permanent employees is still on the table.? ?The following city departments are laying off seasonal and provisional employees:

? Recreation, 148 seasonal and three provisional
? Health and Human Services, 49 seasonal, mostly from Cultural Affairs
? Public Works, three provisional, 26 seasonal
? Police, 16 provisional, one seasonal
? Business Administrator, 15 seasonal, three provisional
? Housing, Economic Development and Commerce, nine provisional
? Mayor?s Office, two unclassified mayoral aides, one seasonal
? City Clerk/Council, one seasonal
? Tax Assessor, one provisional
? Law Department, one seasonal?

?During these difficult economic times, it is critical that we streamline government and reduce spending.? ? Jennifer Morrill?

Streamline government. What a big joke. The library quietly axed their own then moved full speed ahead to create a bogus job for Grego as a consultant. Why would the library need a consultant? Are they that messed up? If so, then replace the director with somebody with library experience, that works within the library, understands library functions and can do the job, preferably for a smaller salary and with a conscience.

According to the hudson reporter:

?Those five-year agreements call for those entities to ?utilize each other?s employees to perform certain services? as determined by the city?s business administrator, the directors of the public library, and the MUA.?

?O?Reilly said the Public Library and MUA wanted to retain the services of Dealy and Grego, even though it would only be until the end of the fiscal year, which is June 30.?
