Re: Did the Census leave out part of Jersey City?

You can call the Census hotline on or after April 12 to request a new form, but I received a call from the local Census office today saying they will be releasing information this afternoon on how residents can get forms before that. I'll report back as soon as I hear from them.

Here's a link to today's Jersey Journal story that has some other information:

I'm not sure about the post office, but I understand the main branch of the Jersey City Library on Jersey Avenue has forms in a rack on the second floor.

Thanks for the tips everyone. I called the Census. They said you can go to a local census center (there are centers on Kennedy Blvd in Bayonne and Monroe Street in Hoboken) to pick up a form or you can wait until April 12 and call the census. Also, workers should still be out visiting homes even if they weren't on the mailing list.

Do those of you who live in buildings have Tennants/Condo Associations?

Working on a story for the paper. Thanks again!

Census officials say that Jersey City's return rate is among the worst in New Jersey.

But a few Liberty Harbor North residents have said they didn't get forms. Did the Census leave you out? Please contact me! mhayes@jjournal.com

Robbery may have been the motive for a brutal murder in Jersey City this week.

?We are confident at this point that a substantial amount of cash was removed from the apartment and at this point it is considered to be a case where theft of the cash was the apparent motivation,? Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio said.

Jacqueline Reyes, 27, died Tuesday after suffering from multiple stab wounds in her apartment at 100 Montgomery Street.

Her 9-month-old son was also stabbed during the attack. He remains in critical but stable condition at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey Hospital in Newark

The state Assembly is set to vote on a bill Monday that would expedite the payment of accidental death pension benefits for the families of fallen police and firefighters.

The bill, sponsored by Assemblywoman Joan M. Quigley, D-Jersey City, stems from the nearly three-month wait endured by the widow of Jersey City Detective Marc Anthony DiNardo, who was killed after being shot in July in a shootout on Reed Street.
