Re: Van Vorst v. Hamilton Park?

VVP will likely always be more desireable because of the PATH and more restuarants...so for prospective owners it would likely be a better investment. They are not a whole lot different...HP may have the park but VVP has LSP which is the size of central park with 1/3 the people using it.

"market timing" is a fools errand. the national market has been falling for 6 years now...many have tried to "catch the bottom". but if you can hold for at least 5 years just find the place you like and pull the trigger. by the time the market stabilizes and starts to rise rates could be much higher.

Fulop...YOU BETTER RUN FOR MAYOR!!! Healy is the epitome of the worst of politicians...corruption/patronage! It doesn't matter if he has good intentions...he is part of the problem and too weak to change. We cannot wait 10 years for things to be transparent in JC government.

I stand with Fulop! Or we can all continue to drop more tax money down the bottomless pit of JC government with no end except moving out of JC! (which I dont want to do). Whichever entity merges with which, it HAS to be accountable and transparent!

Wait till the coming tax re-assessment! When some peoples taxes will go up 50-100% (which the city tax assessor addmitted is theoretically possible). All hell is gonna break loose!!

All the corruption and waste kills the JC economy, real estate values, schools...etc. The status quo is unacceptable. Please help to improve JC...it has tons of potential.

There is an emergency meeting tonight at 7pm at the Barrow Mansion to address the ongoing crime issues on Wayne St. The police captain of the East District as well as someone from councilman Fulop?s office.

Please attend as we need a good turn out to get attention from the police and politicians.

As you well know Wayne St (and Ramos Park) has not been cleaned up by the police as has Hamilton Park and Van Vorst Park over the years. Just over the last year there has been a shooting, constant deadly fights, and the usual drug dealing on Wayne St.

We all have a stake as residents and with the Rosina condos things will get better but it needs to happen NOW!!! To the person who has just bought in the Rosina... confront Pronti (the owners) with the issue. They have indicated that they may pay for security cameras in the park but that was many months ago. If they want a decent return on their investment then they should also join the effort to fix the situation!

Re: CCTV installation downtown

Hi, I am new to JC List... lived here 4 years outta BKLYN.

CCTV is a sign of the times. It is an excellent way to deter crime and prosecute after something has been committed. I support the Police no matter how imperfect they may be but fighting crime should be a multi-faceted approach leveraging technology. The electronic eye never blinks, is not prone to corruption or subjective interpretation...as some would say of the Police.

The important thing is to make sure that we get the most bang for the buck on these things...I hope the bidding, procurement and installation is a transparent process with regards to cost. I noticed that the work on the new sidewalks and streets on Newark has had chronic mistakes that must be costing $$$.

As for big bro...I think we need to find a balance. My experience in JC has been unacceptable levels of crime from chronic drug dealing, assaults, robberies, etc... If the police can't solve the problem on their own then they need to get new tools.
