Anyone have a good experience with pre-natal yoga in Jersey City? Or a studio they prefer which also offers pre-natal? Thanks!

Re: What has Nidia Lopez accomplished in Ward C?

I wrote this for the separate thread that 'supports' Nidia Lopez, but I'll re-post it here:

Quote:
Anytime I have called Lopez's office it takes multiple attempts to get a return phone call.

When the Tonnelle circle construction started, I called her office several times and asked what steps would be taken to make pedestrians safer. I never received a call back.

When a pedestrian died at Kennedy and St. Paul I called again and left a message stating my concerns, and was told that now that someone died they could ask the police about it. Her assistant told me there were no real steps that Lopez could take in that situation because it was a state project.

I'm not supportive of Lopez. I never heard from her during Sandy, before, during or after; I've never seen her in my community. Maybe she's still in Florida.

Those "Have you seen Nidia Lopez?" posters are a good idea. I have no idea how she received as many votes as she did. I voted for the Fulop slate except for her, throwing my vote to Rich Boggiano.

I think Journal Square proper (specifically to the north toward Newark Ave/India Square) is safe at night. People are walking at all times of day and night there, and the White Castle is always busy.

Situational awareness, yes, and be careful crossing the street; but there isn't the same homeless population as there was when the thread started and if they are around they're sleeping in front of a church, not bothering anyone.

Casa Dante is overpriced and the food isn't that great. Good bread, though.

Rita and Joe's has the best Italian I've had so far in JC. Priced right, too. Down-home, traditional food.

I haven't heard great things about Puccini's (bland); I have heard good things about Laicos.

Add me to the list of people who felt the service was lacking. I went in a few times and after waiting around for someone to come to the counter they were usually sold out of whatever I wanted to buy. I know it's difficult to run a small business, but you have to make time for the people who want to be your customers.

I wish Celeste luck with whatever she decides to do next.

Bayonne Freeholder Doreen DiDomenico hurt when car slams into building in Jersey City

Via NJ.com

This was in India Square (Newark Ave and Kennedy Blvd) right across from the White Castle. I don't see how this happened, considering the traffic at rush hour on Newark Ave.

Public Transport from JC to Paramus

Anyone know if there is public transportation from Jersey City to Paramus? I've looked at the NJ Transit schedules and all of their routes would take over two hours. Is there a jitney bus I can take that would be faster? TIA!

We use Hoboken Animal Hospital. Westside couldn't handle us when our cat was sick last year and sent us to Hoboken, and I was more pleased with their services than Westside. Cleaner, nicer docs and techs, but parking is a bitch in Hoboken.

Lincoln Park is not anywhere near JSQ.

JSQ has no park. We have little kids playing in the street and at the JSQ PATH station on that little patch of grass by the Jackie Robinson statue. And yet, none of the plans I have seen ever refer to a park.

For that matter, why don't they open up the EMPTY LOT as a park for the summer? We couldn't get stimulus money to make a temporary park until construction starts? The existing fence could be locked at night.

I would love to get rid of Nidia Lopez, but why are we recalling these people? What is the legal basis?

So when are we getting a public park? Sine JSQ has none, and the children here have to play on that small patch of grass near PSE&G ....

It's great they want to add more amenities, but when will the actual needs of our community be addressed? We have no open recreation space in this area. No playground. Has this ever been addressed in any of the plans for the area?

We used Stephen Nuding, out of Hoboken. He is a carpenter but also affiliated with Marvin Windows. 201-653-8672.

One of my neighbors found a German Shepherd mix dog near Journal Square. He is a sweet dog and seems like someone's pet. If you are missing a dog, post a reply to this message and I'll give you my neighbor's details.

OK, looked in the windows again today. Seems it is going to be an indian grocery store. Because we don't have enough indian style places on that block! Salt and Pepper has new owners, tiffin box closed .... there is too much competition for these places to stay in business.

I peeked in the other day - they have removed the kitchen setup so it is now one big space. Also, the front is being refinished with a faux stone facade. I think it is safe to say Tiffin Box is gone.

Don't know what they are putting in there, though. Would love a decent restaurant besides fast food or Indian-style, but with the kitchen ripped out I don't think that is what they are building. Or a decent supermarket.
