I'll be sure to be on the lookout for a man and woman wearing jeans.

Nice to see the Jersey Journal has done away with their no-racial-identification clause.

What exactly are you doing to get this concept off the ground? I'd love a co-op in Jersey City, but you can't just post to a message board and expect things to take off. As far as I can tell, this initiative amounts to two posts on a message board. No website? Have you done research, contacted vendors, secured funding, recruited members, etc, etc, etc?

Thanks for the insight into the scumbag entitlement nature of waiters. YOUR #OOPS#ING JOB is to provide people with good service, despite whether you have a hunch they'll be pissy. Posts like yours always remind me to stop tipping so much for shitty service. From now on it's 10% for anything but phenomenal service, and all those waiters can blame entitled assholes like yourself.

That said, I don't think people are generally complaining about the servers' attitudes, just how painfully slow and inattentive they are. Believe me, when it comes to wait staff I'm polite to a fault. I've eaten at M+P's maybe four times and always had the same horrendous service.

EDIT: Oh, and I just caught your "interact with that table as little as possible (they?re being a-holes), but do the best job you can." Yeah, I'm sure that last part really came into play a lot. Such bullshit.

I love the ambience there, but unfortunately I've never had a good dinner there. Brunch is ok, but I always find that the food there is completely underseasoned and overpriced for what they offer. And the service sort of blows.

I've never heard of people tipping by percentage for delivery. The guy's not waiting on you hand and foot like a waiter. Unless the order is abnormally large, requiring him to go back and forth to his car over and over, I don't really change my tip for $25 of food or $50.

There is absolutely no way a small-time book store would survive in Jersey City (let alone anywhere else). Unless you can sell your books for 30% under cover price like Amazon, or offer as big a selection as Barnes and Noble, the only reason someone would shop there would be to support local business.

Whenever I check for a book at a small book store, and they tell me they don't have it but they can order it and have it in a week, I wonder if they realize I can order it myself for up to half the price and have it in two days.

So it wasn't actually IN your apartment, just in your apartment building, correct? Like there's a hallway w/ stairs and whatnot, and that's where it was, outside the locked door to your apartment.

Hoboken taxis don't have meters. The only way to do this is to set a price ahead of time. From Hoboken to Dixon Mills almost always costs me $12.

Playing the race card does not move me and is an appeal to a bygone era. Do you think that any garage in JC could deny black people the same rate as whites without losing most of their business from non-black people - even without government intervention.

Also, the discount was not "against" anyone, including atheists. It was a discount for Jehovah's Witnesses, probably because the lot owner knew a bunch of them would be looking for parking when others wouldn't (i.e. JSQ on Saturday morning).

Maybe I am less threatened by religious folks than some atheists but I treasure private property rights and the right to freely associate with those of one's choosing. I see my freely parking in a non-religious lot and everyone else who supports religious freedom doing so a better solution than employing the coercive power of the state to force bigots to stop losing my business.

Wow, way to completely ignore the point. Just because you're not "threatened" by JWs, it doesn't mean the practice is not discriminatory. And if you truly believe in private property rights, then you DO agree that a lot should be able to offer a special discount to whites. I know you think you somehow bypass this argument by saying it "appeals to a bygone era" (yes, because racism is dead in this country - you're right), but maybe this will make it a little easier to visualize in this modern, racism-free era:

Let's say there happened to be a white nationalist rally one day in Journal Square (these kinds of rallies happen all the time, so it's not an "appeal to a bygone era"). And let's imagine this garage was offering special discounts to members of this white nationalist organization on that day. Would you think that's ok?

We ordered delivery last night. I thought it was pretty good. Better than anything else I've had thus far in Jersey City (though that only includes Rasoi and Shadman). The delivery took a while, however (over an hour). I will definitely be trying it again soon to try some of the more interesting dishes (they have a ton I'd not seen in most restaurants before).

Re: Journal Square: 4 Arabic men arrested at hospital - but not stabbed by the robbery victim

First of all, people can not be "Arabic." That's the language. The people are either Arab or Arabian. That's like calling a hindu a "hindi."

Second, the GP-revised headline is so bad and impossible to interpret, he would have been better off just sticking with the given headline. In fact, I'm sure the headline writers at the JJ have worked very hard at coming up with headlines befitting the stories. Perhaps you should just go with that.

MYBEAT, I agree it's not racist, but it's also not necessary. If the story were about four Arabs stabbing a guy because he's white - a hate crime or something - then it would make sense to identify their race right off the bat. But there's no racial motivation here, and it really has nothing to do with the rest of the story, so revising the headline to include their race is a bit weird.

Where did I bash anyone? It just seems like it's not the right time, economically, for an expensive store with limited appeal. It just seems odd that a business would open after two others with a similar model had to close down due to the slow economy.

I'm sorry, but what drives someone to open a boutique toy store when two boutique toy stores in the same neighborhood (one in the same storefront - although I guess Imagine Atrium was a little different) shuttered within the last six months?

So quick recap:

You post a poll under a completely biased URL.
People call you out for completely biased URL and classify your site as a complaint site, not a legitimate poll.
You say so what about the completely biased URL, what do you want us to make a pro-PATH URL?
I point out that you could have registered an unbiased URL.
You admit that your poll is completely biased and meant to be that way.
