Does anyone happen to know why they added these signs? They are much further from the intersection than they need to be.

Have you contacted Fussy Friends? I'm sure they would pass on the info to help get the word out as well.

Wonderful. Guess I will very rarely be able to sleep with my window open now (come nicer weather of course).

Re: Downtown JC car break-ins (5th Street)

This makes me feel slightly less insane. A few weeks ago I was parked (on 5th between Coles and Monmouth) and when I went to my car everything was out of my center console and on the passenger seat. At first I thought it was my BF's passive aggressive way of telling me to clean out the center console, but he didn't do it. When I looked, the only thing that was missing was (maybe) a gps. I say maybe because I haven't used it in years and it may be lost on it's own. The stranger part was that there was some money ($5 or so) left untouched in another area. Same thing with other cars, no damage, which is why I wasn't even sure anyone had actually broken in or if maybe I was going a little crazy.

If across the river is local enough, there is always Brooklyn Grange.

(And as a side note, if you like Bloody Mary's & make the journey for honey make sure to get a bottle of their bloody mary mix as well).

Just an FYI to anyone who may be parked on 3rd between Coles and Monmouth. Apparently they are towing cars to so repairs. So if you happen to be home, go move your car!

Otolaryngologist recommendation

I know this is a long shot, but does anyone have a recommendation for an otolaryngologist (ENT)? For myself, so being good with children isn't a concern for me. Prefer not to treck into Manhattan, but reviews of places in JC/Hoboken aren?t looking too good.

FYI- Low Flying Plane To Cruise Up The Hudson River On Wednesday Morning

Probably too late to really get the word out. Why don't they announce these things better??

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) ? New Yorkers who see a low flying airplane along the Hudson River on Wednesday morning will have no need to panic.

On Tuesday the FAA announced that a commercial airbus A320 airliner would be conducting a ceremonial flight at around 7 a.m.

The plane will likely fly from the Verrazano Bridge towards the George Washington Bridge at an altitude of 2,000-ft, CBS 2 reported.

The plane will then head to Kennedy Airport for a ceremony.

Another +1 for Brooklyn. Although I think there are more than 25k. Hopefully the 2 waves will help keep things spaced out.

On a sort of related topic. Does anyone know of any TNR programs in weehawken ? I have a friend with a colony in her backyard and she has had no luck finding someone to help her catch and fix them. I'm currently helping bottle feed a baby that a mom abandoned and it breaks my heart to see these kittens born every year.

I live at 3rd and Coles and we were dry for both Irene and sandy. Basement had a couple puddles post-sandy, but nothing crazy. Also, power was restored relatively quickly here. Less than 30 hours without it.

Re: Brick Haus Gym

Not too shy to talk

I have been a memeber at Brick Haus for almost 3 years and have nothing but great things to say about it. It is pricey, but the proximity to my apartment is what made me start using this gym in the first place. One of the things I love the most (as silly as it seems) is to be welcomed (by name) without even having to swipe my card.

I will admit, this gym is a bit of a "sausage fest". There are times when I am the only womean in the gym, but I don't feel out of place and I never have a problem getting on a machine -- only exception is the few times both stairmasters are in use. Sometimes machines are broken, but I have never had an issue just switching to another.

I am not a big class person, so to some the offering may seem small, but when I was the only one who showed up to yoga a few weeks ago I got my own private class. Can't beat that.

I can't comment on the showers since I have never used them. I have also never used the steam room. I will say the suana has been a blessing on my poor cold muscles and lungs the last few weeks!

Disclaimer: I also tend to go to the gym at off peak times

Thanks. Also, just so everyone knows the ferry is not allowed to run after dark as per the USCG. You can also download the NY Waterway App so you can buy tickets on your phone instead of waiting in line.

I'm trying to look up buses for my BF who has been in Manhatten since before the storm hit (he may not get out of work in time for the last ferry to PH). Does anyone know if the 126 will be stopping in Newport? All I can find is:
"No. 126 - Willow/Clinton Service & Hamilton Park Eliminated - Hoboken access uncertain."
Does anyone know of any other bus routes that go anywhere in JC?

On a related topic. About a month or so ago a "driveway" has popped up on Coles. It looks like a backyard that now has a gate that can be opened, and it has a no parking sign on it saying people will be towed. The car is very rarely in the actual "driveway" and always just parks in front. Is this allowed? I am beginning to think no especially since the curb isn't cut.

Thank you for all the suggestions, bit unfortunately quince is just too out of season I guess (didn't try Chinatown).
Erica, I needed the quince to make my own quince jam, but I took your suggestions and purchased a jar and I'm going to try and "fix it" a little to suit my taste.

Thanks again!

Re: Local Veterinarian

I took my cats for their checkups/shots at downtown vet. Dr. Kristen Simko was an overall good vet; however I have 1 "mean" kitty and unfortunately she bit her. Dr. Simko assured me it was only minor and wasn't a big deal, but since it broke the skin the policy is that she had to be quarantined for 10 days and then go back for another exam to make sure she isn't rabid.

Pricing:
Wellness exam with vaccinations (distemper and rabies): $98
Parasite check: $36
Bite exam: $54

Basically just warn that you have a tempermental kitty and they will try to be cautious (I underestimated mine). On the plus side I needed some hairball medicine for the mean cat and they gave it to me without bringing her in since they knew she was uncomfortable at the vet.
