Re: Hamilton Park Renovation - Update

As you can tell if you read any of my other posts I am not a big proponent of those who run things in JC, but the people who get the actual work done, once they have the permission and money to do so, are mostly pretty great.

I have had the pleasure of working with Glenn on two projects and have complete faith he is doing everything he can to keep it on schedule. As for starting in summer, that was just bad luck. The bid and rebid process took longer than expected, leaving the city with the choice of starting this summer (nearly 9 months late) or waiting still longer. They decided to get to work as soon as possible. Inconvenient in the short term, but it means we will have a new park sooner.

I will now return to my regularly scheduled ranting. Thank you.

Don't mistake CYA for Honest Government. If Gaughan thinks that Dwek was so transparent that he just walked away, then why does he continue to defend Vega? The key is in his use of the word "entrapment". He is not standing up for anything, he is helping to provide Vega a defense. Hey Gaughan - If you could see through Dwek in a city minute why couldn't Vega? And if Vega is that susceptible to greed, why did you NOT support the vote of no confidence?

And yet Healy STILL supports Vega, though the same could be said of him that Healy has said of all the others - the city can't afford the distraction. I know Vega has been at this longer than Healy, and may have some high placed friends, but come on Healy - grow a set.

Fully transparent? This from the man who ordered the new tax assessment team be exempt from all sunshine laws and meet in private. Please.

Talk about hypocrisy. An audit to assure transparency? Healy is the one who created the commission that decides who gets offered a tax abatement in 2002-2003 and specifically exempted it from the sunshine laws so that no one would know anything about the abatement process until the abatement was being voted on. He should call this the CYA audit.
