Sure, you're "presumed innocent" as a matter of criminal law, but that does not mean you are entitled to hold an office of public trust while under a cloud that 1) eviscerates public confidence in government and 2) will occupy almost all of your time and attention.

This cannot stand.

Actually, it must stand. If there are consequences for merely an indictment, then nothing prevents legal agencies from making malicious indictments.

I agree with Bogart. Whether Vega is innocent or guilty is a matter for the courts to decide, and he is entitled to his day in court. However, as has been the case in many situations regarding political figures (i.e. Eliot Spitzer), it does not matter if you are innocent or guilty. What matters is whether you can function in full capacity to serve the taxpayers which elected you. In instances such as these, it is clear. The answer is no. If I were not able to fully function in my job, I would be fired.

I live in downtown JC and I have been contemplating a move to Brooklyn (Cobble Hill area), too, but can't get over the fact that Jersey City prices in terms of living, are just better. I think that JCSHEP did a good job at listing some of the pro's and con's. Ultimately, I think that we will probably head out of here, just for the simple fact the subway system is more extensive, which is important to me considering where I work in Manhattan and Cobble Hill is much more family friendly (corner deli's remember your name, etc.), but I am not sure that is what you are looking for. Best of luck!!

As a reporter that covered countless city council meetings from Orlando to Chicago, I have never seen such a committed council member as Councilman Fulop. The residents of Jersey City appreciate your effort and dedication, in an arena where it seems as if there is none.

This place is absolutely horrible!!!!! I would not move in if anyone is considering it! Or get out while you can! We are negotiating to get out of our lease because of the compulsive lying problems and poor management. Also, with the newly opening Biergarten, the police have been called for noise complaints over 20 times!!! The paper thing walls here do little to detract from the drunk patrons downstairs until 3 in the morning.
