Do you know these people personally? Sounds like you're defending and not grasping all the FACTS in this case. And just what articles are you reading because a lot of what I found (just google it) contradicts what you say.

"When Mr. Infantes tried to break up the argument, the police said, the Gavina brothers attacked, swinging metal pipes. Law enforcement officials said they think that Benjamin beat Officer Infantes, while Alfredo hit the officer's friend, Brian Belka, in the head. Mr. Belka later needed 50 stitches for his wound. A police officer who came to the scene was also injured ."

Hmm.

Maybe you just don't know how to read.

Alot of the real story was twisted to make it sound like the officer was attacked. The officer was never in the wrong just walked into a bad situation and thought he was helping his friend from being attacked, but the suspects weren't the cold blooded killers they were made out to be. Infantes didnt deserve to die that way but it wasnt like he was attacked the way that article makes it sound. Infantes friend should go to jail also for provoking the incident that lead to his friends death.

The pimp needs an agent. Or a publisher. What a fabulous coffee table book he would be! Think of the licensing opportunities!

Has anyone ever met him? I wonder what he does for a living, what his home is like, his family, his friends...is there a Mrs. Pimp?

This is SO prime for a reality show.

Being the first to arrive (door was still closed) I got to chat with the GA's who were second to arrive (followed by Fulop and BrightMoments - can I just say here that I would never have guessed BrightMoments that that was you? You were so frequently annoying with your posts here but I found you in person to be nothing like that and only realized who you were today by your post.. in any case, I think I will view your posts diff'rently now.. ha ha..)

anyway.. I got to talk to Mike from the GA's and he was so enthusiastic about everything that they would like to start up in JC and everything that they have done in the past in various places, especially for the kids. I was shocked, SHOCKED then to find that at the meeting they were all but ignored. There were plenty of times where the segue to introduce them was perfect but no one did.

I found it amusing that the 'prinicipals' rattled on about all of the community patrols they do themselves and never once took an opinion or sought advice from the professionals that sat right behind them.

I'm sad to say I walked out quite disappointed. The only thing that really hit was Dwayne (was that his name?) talking about his programs for youth in JC and the diff'rent approaches they are trying on the kids I realized that I might not have had the best approach towards the kids on our block. That was also a perfect opportunity for the GA's to talk about all of the programs they have for kids but we were out of time because we spent too much of it going over crimes from last month that we all, for the most part, already knew about.. the agenda shouldn't be about going over past crimes in detail.. save that for the emails to people that are signed up for them.. the agenda should have been more about being proactive.. advice from the GA's.. volunteering with the youth programs.. ideas on being PROACTIVE.. but maybe that's just me..

Don't get me wrong, last night was very important, more people should come out and share ideas and experiences and maybe then we'll have something a bit more 'productive' so when you leave you feel inspired and hopeful.. we need more input.. it was great hearing the locals talk about their experiences.. so make the effort and show up.. let's see where this could go because it isn't going far just yet..

hey, friedchicken, you've got it all wrong! didn't you just read that she in fact did not go to the mall? if she did, why would she ask for the videotape? people that know they did something wrong don't ask that..

i honestly think the towing guy is trying to get one over.. fight it, and see about the videotape, if there is one.. i guess most people don't want to fight it, even if they know they did nothing wrong, because it takes up a lot of time..

i know i would fight it.. i couldn't 'suck it up and pay' even if it was $1 - if you're telling me i did something i didn't do, you've got a fight on your hands..

The question is weather or not she really did go somewhere else instead of to bj's or shoprite or whatever. She may in fact have gone to shoprite to pick up a pack of gum but that certainly doesnt give her the right to park her car there all day long and shop in the area.

Why even bother to see the tape, if she knows she didnt park her car there to shop somewhere else why the stress to see the tape, she shouldnt need the tape, SHE SHOULD KNOW.

Now i guess im playing devils advocate here but if she did in fact do that then well what can you say, she got caught. Its like a speeding ticket, you know everyone does it but it sux YOU got caught. I say suck it up and pay it if she in fact did just park her car there and shop somewhere else.

What are you talking about? The Taqueria, I thought, was new. I thought they just had that Taco Stand and that's all. You're saying they used to be in the space that they are in now? Huh? If not, then how do you know it hasn't been remodeled? How do you know anything about it when your description of it is in the distant past tense?

We've never been to Taqueria but we have some strong reservations against it. I grew up here so I know that place has been around forever. They used to sell and serve pork, maybe even mofongos from the side window. It must have gone through some many different ownerships. All I know is that it has never been remodeled, nor has the stink of the place gone away. We used to commute via the ferry before WTC station reopened and used to pass by it every morning. Whew! Man was the stink coming out of that restaurant/dump revolting! yuck.

I've been to La Gloria and the food was excellent! Real Mexican home cooking. Taqueria sounds a lot like it. Can't wait to check it out.

La Gloria de Mexico in the Heights has a menu full of homespun dishes you can't get at Tex-Mex places. It's at 602 Palisade Ave. at Congress Street. It's right near the cliff -- you can also take the light rail to the 9th/Congress Street stop at the west of 9th Street in Hoboken and take the elevator up.

This new place also sounds great, and I'm glad to see it in such a convenient location. I will brave the Curse and try it soon!

The place gives me the creeps. I think they should change the name to "The Bellevue", because you'd have to be insane to want to be committed there. And you would, literally, be committed to your premises because there's nothing around. I don't care how close you argue downtown is to the place, it's NOT, it's quite a hike through some rough blocks at that.
