We've been going to H&R Block (used to be Reliant Tax) on West Side Avenue for 3 years now and we're very happy with their service.

They have a sign outside that says they're re-opening on March 11th.

Not sure if this is the same guy y'all are talking about but I saw one decked out in this Big Bird-yellow fur coat with matching hat. He passed by our store in Jersey Avenue about 11:30 AM today.

Fiesta Grill and Casa Manila on Newark Avenue are good. Also on West Side Ave., I recommend Rowena's. I love their fresh lumpia (spring roll) with peanut sauce!

Hi all! I just wanted to let you guys know that Vivi Girl Shop is now open. Actually, we've been open for 2 months now but I haven't had the chance to post about it here in JCList.

We're located at 512-A Jersey Avenue, just a few steps away from Wonder Bagel (we're between Sushi Tango and Ahymn Cafe & Espresso Bar). Some of the brands that we're carrying include Orla Kiely, Tarina Tarantino, Tocca Beauty, Tokyo Milk, Shinzi Katoh, and Lollia. We have bags, clothing, jewelry, paper goods, & bath & body goods.

Anyway, hope to see you guys soon! Thank you!

Marie :)

Are you interested in sharing space with an existing cafe? It may be a good combination to consider and can allow you to hedge risk during this nutty economy.

No, not at all. They're just moving.

And thanks for the heads-up, kellygreen!

I Googled the space and it looks pretty good! It's going to be our first stop this weekend! Thanks!

There is a little storefront on Grove between Wayne and Barrow, where Comfort Bistro used to be. It is next to a beauty store and a hair saloon - sounds like a good spot.

We really didn't want to set up shop in a mall. Our initial plan was to set up a showroom/office instead of a storefront because we are doing good in our online sales and we should just focus on that. But we figured that a storefront could bring in more NJ customers, which we don't see often (most of our customers are from NY, CA, and the UK). And there is one particular brand that we are carrying that no other store in Jersey City (even in Hoboken!) carry and that could attract potential customers. I remember I used to go to Montclair just to shop for this brand

We're still doing a lot of research and your inputs really help a lot and I appreciate it!

I'm taking notes! We're going to busy this weekend scouting the areas that you guys mentioned! Thanks so much!

I actually don't think that we're operating an upscale store--we're like a mix of Anthropologie and Japanese gift shops

Thanks for the reply!

We carry women's handbags, jewelry, paper goods, and a bit of home/kitchen goods (like water bottles, mugs, bento boxes, etc.).

Our prices range from $10 (for paper goods) to $200 (for handbags).

Good Retail Location in Downtown JC

My husband and I are running an online retail store for a year now (our base of operation and also our home is located at Bergen Ave. by JSQ) and we've been discussing the possibility of opening a brick and mortar store in downtown JC. We've been scouting the area for quite sometime now and we've seen a couple of potential spots, one is in Newark Ave. and the other one is in Jersey Ave.

The one in Newark Ave. is good for us, size-wise and rent-wise, but it's right next to a liquor store. I like the location of the one in Jersey Ave. but the rent/mo goes a bit beyond our budget.

I'm not at all that familiar with downtown JC and I was wondering if anyone can suggest a good retail location and we'll check it out the next time we drive by.

Thank you!
