Re: Historic paint for my stoop

When we had our stoop painted we used the same colors that were already there, and they came from the Benjamin Moore Historic Color paint chart. We did have to get a Cert of No Effect from the city before the re-painting could be done.

You also should consider the cost of monthly maintenance in a condo versus putting that same amount into your own home. Taxes may be higher, but the full amount of real estate tax is deductible on your federal and state income tax returns. My wife and I went through the same decision process 6 yrs ago and opted for a house not a condo. Never looked back.

We're having the same problem on 5th between Jersey and Erie. The same size turds, and almost every day. It's gotten to the point that not only do you have to watch out for icy sidewalks, you have to be careful of what you step in! I'll do the same thing if I ever catch the dog in the act.

I take offense with the comment that the owners of the house that could have been in Architectural Digest did not care to negotiate. We are the owners, and were never presented with an offer from Ms. Homenick. Not sure if she dropped the ball, or if her agent gave her misinformation about our listing.

We've used Kook and Sons for over 5 years - responsive and reliable, they stand by their work.

Re: Brownstone facade leaks - repair and repointing

We contracted with Jaime to have work done on the front of our home - took almost 18 months for him to put us on his schedule - should have been a warning. He did the work, but the paint peeled from the cornice at the roofline, and then the wood on the front stoop showed rot signs where his people just painted over rotting wood. Took him almost 2 yrs (yes yrs!) for him to come back to fix the work, and only then because we threatened him with small claims court. He did re-paint the cornice, however, we are STILL waiting for him to fix the wood and repaint the stoop. He sends people over, they work for a day, and disappear. He NEVER answers his phone - his voicemail is always full, and he recommended sending him email, but no one ever replies. What good is the 7 year guarantee on his work if he doesn't honor it? I have given up trying to reach him and will have someone else do the work, and THEN take him to small claims court.

I drove my 1999 Toyota Corolla with 140 K miles on it to Manhattan - 1800carcash - it's on the west wide around 52nd street. They gave me $750 for it, plus $20 in cash for travel expenses. I would have gotten $1000 for it but it was a manual trans, not automatic.

I've gone to Salon X 3 times for haircuts with Paul. They are good haircuts, but it also kills me to pay $40.00 Which salon in the mall has operators who have been there for 18 years? I've never had one last more than 1-3 years.
