Air conditioner (window) recommendations

It's that time of year again... Especially for those of us on the top floors of apartments without central AC...

Can anyone recommend a good QUIET window AC unit? I've had mine for 6 years and it sounds like a lawn mower in my room. Standard size.

Thanks in advance!

I know this was asked on here recently, but I can't seem to find the post...can anyone recommend a psychiatrist in the downtown JC area? Preferably one that takes United Healthcare/ Oxford insurance. private messages welcome.

thanks very much to anyone for their help.

dog question

I am considering getting a dog and I'm just beginning my research. I wanted to ask other dog owners on JClist for recommendations on shelters/reputable breeders in the surrounding area. Clearly there are alot of downtown JC dog owners, so I figured what better place to ask.

I am interested in a small to medium size dog befitting of apartment living here in JC. perhaps a boston terrier. I am also looking for reputable dog walkers and what the average going rates are these days for one.

Serious replies or suggestions only please.

Thanks. I appreciate any help.

I was one of the lucky passengers to get stuck underground on the train for about an hour and a half on my commute home to JC tonight (7/26). At some points we were riding backwards. Towards the end, the lights on the train went out. There were weird smells coming from the back of the train causing some worry.

A truly fantastic voyage home at the end of a long work week.

I just emailed PATH for some sort of refund for the sake of my time and my sanity, which was quickly deteriorating towards the end of that shit-storm of a ride home.

Why does this seem easy to me? If you see your dog eating a chicken bone, stop them...and if you see a chicken bone on the sidewalk kick it out of the way. As far as lack of garbage cans - that is true. Carry a "trash bag" type of receptacle and throw out the "trash" when you find the appropriate place for it.

It sounds like you have a chicken bone to pick with this message thread...

half-eaten chicken bones on the sidewalks

There appears to be a chicken bone epidemic in downtown Jersey City. I've lived here 3 years now and I've lost count of how many times I've seen discarded half-eaten drumsticks on the sidewalks. For me, it's definitely a weekly sighting at the very least.

Dogs can choke, people can slip. Also, it's pretty gross. If anyone has any information on this bizarre occurrence I'd love to hear it!
