Looking for a Graphic Designer

Can you suggest a graphic designer for a very small project?

Currently need their skills to create a logo for a growing small business. From that will come a menu plan, t-shirts, stickers and so forth.

Depending on the quality of their work, I plan to keep them on board as we expand.

Any suggestions?

How about the new lane shift on Grand Street by the hospital?

I wish it would stand out more, as if the blinking sign weren't enough. So many times during the morning rush, I'll be in the right lane and the vehicle in the left lane almost drives right into me.

Wow!
Dr Epps is a nice guy and great with the kids but not worth $260K, especially when programs are being cut for our kids (special thanks to Gov Christie as well) ... notice I didn't say anything relating to getting the job done, still waiting to see that one....

Newark School should be ashamed, the schools are a disgrace!!

I don't even know what to say, I'm still in shock!

I need help finding some type of legal documentation that states what a landlord's responsibilities are when renting an apartment.

Example, is a landlord required to paint? or is it a courtesy? What are the rules when your landlord doesn't fix a leak or a hole in the ceiling? All things that you didn't cause!

Can anyone help? What is the process to take action and how do I escalate if needed?

Thanks in advance!

In this post 9/11 world this is not acceptable. I work in lower Manhattan- and we are all trained! You see a low flying plane you get out and ask questions later.

Its terrifing to have experienced. I hope an investigation is conducted to find out who dropped the ball!!

Damn! PATH sends out alerts when they'll be making a loud noise, but the FAA couldn't notify the appropriate parties and they couldn't trickle it down.

Can You Recommend A Travel Agency?

Can someone recommend a travel agency in jersey city?

I am in the midst of planning a trip to Dominican Republic (Punta Cana) for a group of 8-16 people. I've been there before and have been looking vigorisly online. Nowadays it takes a little to much time for me to be searching for the right price/right deal. I'd rather have someone else's assistance.

Can anyone recommend a good travel agent I can work with? Preferable in jersey city or hudson county area.

Thanks!

Elected School Board Rather Than An Appointed One
#14
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

I just received this email and wanted to share it>>

Dear friends:

As you may be aware, voters in Jersey City made a historically important choice
this past November. Over eighty percent (80%) of you, the people of Jersey City,
voted to have an elected school board rather than an appointed one.

This was particularly important because just this year the City regained its
control over its school system after twenty years of State oversight.
Symbolically, this was a victory for the people of Jersey City as it meant that
we were ready to move past the political influence that once bankrupted our
city?s schools.

Now, the New Jersey State Legislature is considering a bill that could
potentially nullify this past November's vote and grant the city the ability to
unilaterally disband the elected board in favor of a ?hybrid? school board. This
?hybrid? board would consist of three members who are appointed by the mayor,
three that are elected and three that are appointed by the Commissioner of
Education.

This bill, which Mayor Healy has aggressively lobbied for, would once again put
our school system in the hands of entrenched politicians rather than public
servants that are beholden to the people of Jersey City. This bill would create
a system with more political patronage and less accountability.

Many educational leaders in our community, including Shelley Skinner, have asked
me to help bring more attention to this very important issue that will have an
effect on the lives of all Jersey City residents, regardless of whether or not
they have children enrolled in our public schools.

Therefore, I am introducing a municipal resolution requesting that the bill be
altered so that the voters of Jersey City would retain the right to ultimately
decide on the structure of the city?s school board.

I am asking you to consider showing your support to this initiative by attending
the next meeting of the City Council on Wednesday, December 17th at 6:30 PM at
City Hall. The meeting shouldn?t last longer than an hour but will be critically
important to determining the structure of our city?s school system.

The intent and will of the Jersey City electorate is being intentionally ignored
by some of the politicians who stand to directly benefit from a politically
controlled school board. Whether or not you have children in our school system,
it is important that you help oppose those politicians that value political
power over quality education in Jersey City.

Sincerely,
Steven Fulop
Councilman, Ward E

I truly feel as if my vote doesn't count. Why must the power always lay in the hands of politicians (some who don't have the best intensions at heart)

I will try my best to be at City Hall.

Please think of a fundrasing idea/event that you have done or that you've participated in and was successful.

I am brainstorming some ideas of fundraisers for the club We are planning on attending a Youth Leadership Conference in April and have a lot of fundraising in order to go.

Please share any fundraising ideas you may have. The JC community has a lot of great minds and I'd love to hear what you have to share!

Thank you! It is very appreciated.

These guys will be out in no time. Sad to say! I'm glad there is a higher police pressence in the area but how much time will they actually have to do, lets get realistic.

These guys need to get a life-its not like they are even good at what they do. You choose grove st do mug someone. Mugging women, come on!

I hope they have a wrap sheet- that's the only way they will probably get more time than expected.

Ditto- keep up the good work JCPD.

Let me clarify, I'm not saying "lets violate everyones 4th amendment right and search every person that walks around..." I am saying that there is a lot of violence in Mont Gardens in general. Regardless of whether or not this incidient occured there. It would be nice to see more police present in the area, Maybe patrolling the area as they do in other projects/housing areas. (Ex, new houses and villa)

Is JCPD doing a better job? YES! I have seen improvements in many parts of the city from Journal Square to MLK. Improvements have taken place.

jc73, i too blame many of the parents but at some point the youth do have a choice. I personally know many people that live in mont gardens and have seen the good, bad and ugly that can come out of it. It's just sad that there are good kids/teens that don't have a choice but to live there and can't walk outside or sit on their stoop without worries of having to be prepared to fight or defend themselves.

Sorry but Gino's in the heights is awesome. I would never refer you Frank's!

I've never been to John's but it has received a lot of rave from the community- I need to make my way there.

In downtown, I'd rather you go to Stella's on Grove Street and Christopher Columbus or 3 boys(next to Franks).

But Gino's is the best pizza I've had hands down.

This is insane! When is the JCPD going to do something about what is happening in our community. Every week (just about) there is heart breaking news being circulated about the crimes/deaths taking place in Montgomery Gardens. I know so many talented/bright kids that live there and wake up to that maddness every day.

Someone needs to wake up and smell the coffee!

Don't know Frank personally, but before he decides to run for City Council- please make a better pizza first!

I've been going to 3 Boys (right next door) for years. Still not the best pizza in town but better than Franks.

Gino's on Central is better by far. I'd rather travel to the heights for a slice than go to Franks.
