Jersey City...you are in for a treat!

After a little bit of begging and lots of finger crossing the owner of the soon to open Cocoa Bakery & Cafe agreed to make the birthday cake for a 40th birthday party held this evening.

We wanted something a little different, modern, feminine and elegant. She created a structure of three tiers, the bottom two tiers held 50 cupcakes and the top tier was a mini cake. The cupcakes matched the top tier cake and both were covered with fondant and mini sugar flowers. Each individual flower was hand painted....it was truly spectacular. The presentation alone was so beautiful and when we finally tasted the cakes...AWESOME! The fondant and sugar flowers melted in your mouth and the cake was delicious.

I'm thrilled that Jessica Isaacs is opening her bakery here in Jersey City and wish her great success.

Agree 100%. Those were some delicious cupcakes!

A Jersey City man told police he walked nearly half a mile before noticing he was shot in the knee early yesterday morning, according to police.

It wasn't until he reached Bergen Avenue and Montgomery Street that his knee pain worsened and he noticed he was bleeding, police said.

The man appeared intoxicated and he was listed in stable condition at Jersey City Medical Center, with the bullet possibly still lodged in his knee, authorities said.

I don't know about the rest of y'all, but if I am ever shot in the knee even while appearing intoxicated I will fall to the ground screaming. People within a 10 block radius will know I've been injured. I will NOT walk nearly half a mile.

While I did not know this young man, my heart still goes out to his family and his child.

Prayers to this young man's family. As a parent of two young-ish drivers, this is one of my worst nightmares. The deadly car wreck.

Excellent idea jennymayla! I like this!

*smiles* This cart sighting map could quite possibly become the Jersey City equivalent of 'Big Foot' sightings!

Off topic: I find it amazing that I can't pump my own gas. Y'all would have laughed your asses off watching my first 'converstation' with the gas pumper guy at the Exxon by the Holland Tunnel.

me: (jumping out of car as usual) Hi. Thanks but I can do this.
him: No, I do.
me: No, thanks, I can do this.
him: No, no I do.
me: NO. I do this.
him: NO. You go to car.
me: NO. NO. You get your ass away from my car.
husband: (running fast out of the Exxon store)It's the law. He gets to pump the gas.

LOL. The man still remembers me when I go there. I just smile sweetly and hand him the credit card.

Whoa. I hold my breathe and say a quick prayer when we cross the Skyway in our vehicle. I can't even imagine the terror I would feel crossing it on a bicycle!

I agree with MikeZ's post. If I'm going to do something shady and corrupt, I'm not doing it for a mere $500. Nope. I want the big bucks.

I am just thrilled that a grocery store is only a hop, skip, and jump away from our apartment. Not that the Shop Rite or A&P was so far...it was dragging that dang cart (transplanted Texan here) around and feeling foolish doing it.

Not that this idea is a solution but whenever I see a herd of abandon shopping carts I just want to weld them all together and make shopping cart art.
