Re: Wayne St. Playground Park Bench Removal

Let me add a little clarification to the matter as a resident of the street-

The removal is only of the benches on the EXTERIOR of the park. For those using the park for appropriate purposes, the benches inside will be untouched.

I also want to add I never see those who are there to use the park, sitting on the exterior benches. Also, this is just another step we can take to help with the problems of the street and the park. It can also be temporary. We have been assured that putting them back is an easy task if that decision is made in the future.

Thanks all for your sympathy. I know better than to leave suction marks on the windshield, that's why I think I was being watched while parking. All my work things were luckily in the trunk. It's frustrating more than anything else. I just want to make someone accountable!

Car Theft- breaking and entering in broad daylight

Did anyone hear or see anything in the Newport Plaza parking lot on Washington Blvd yesterday (Thurs) between 4 15 and 5 15 pm? My navy colored BMW was broken into, and GPS was stolen. Drivers window was completely smashed out and the rest of the car was un disturbed. Have a feeling the person was watching b/c I'm smart enough to not leave the GPS on the window, I hid it in the console. How can this happen, in broad daylight, in a lot with a security car there for that specific purpose??? Luckily insurance will cover the wondow, but in order to recover the GPS, I'd have to pay an insurance deductible twice the cost of the unit.

I know this is bigger than me, I'm well aware of the stolen GPS gig going on in hudson and NYC. I just can't believe how heartless people are and that there's no recourse to get back stolen property and that the victims suffer. My car is my office and having to take time to have it fixed costs me a day of work in addition to all the frustration.

Re: Property taxes/maintenance fees for condos/townhouses in JC?

When my husband and I started our homebuying search in the Summer of 2007, the only thing that was for sure was that taxes and maintenance fees are all over the place! There is no formula or average. With maintenance fees, it all comes down to whether the association is self managed, or hired outside management (including snow removal services). Taxes differ based on whether the property is updated or not. Example- we purchased a $350K 1 bedroom and pay $150 in maintenance (self managed) and $4000 in taxes (brand new construction, but got a 5 year abatement).

Antonio (973) 886 8276. Him and his father have YEARS of experience between them and are always looking to do side jobs. Just mention JClist to him. He is a JC resident.
