For all you JC'ers out there. I'm looking at a place on 6th between Erie and Jersey. Can anyone tell me about this area? I realize JC is a city, but what is this area like in terms of safety, quality of life, and walk to/from PATH (day and night?)

I'm 24 and was considering buying a condo in the heights in the area of Webster/Bowers. Can anyone tell me anything about this area?

I've heard everything from there being constant street gangs to muggings at the light rail. What is the quality of life really like?

Pretty much EVERYONE I talked to told me to avoid the Heights like the plague. These people however all live in nicer areas and here "Jersey City" and think its like a future world where there are neighborhood wars.

I've asked on some other forums and received replies like "get a gun, you'll need it" or "why not Hoboken?" If I could afford Hoboken, I'd go to Hoboken.

Can anyone provide honest feedback on this area without being so brutal?
