Re: Commuter vans being pulled from the road

More like a bigger plan to rid Jersey City of the working class poor who rely on them. Not safety. Big development in JSQ and alll across hudson county and suddenly this happens after they've been running for like 25-30 years.. There's a high demand that NJT will NEVER be able to handle.. I've taken them well over a thousand times in my life with no problems.

edit: i'm aware these inspections have happened in the past and in other towns

Let the shitstorm begin.

You sound like an idiot with the lame ol " i'll come and write on your stuff, and see how you like it ". What are you a 75 year old woman? It's a problem with no solution other than bucket paint and fines for those who are caught. Personally stuff on mailboxes, storm doors, abandoned buildings, sound barrier on the highways, etc doesn't bother me. Maybe I'm just used to it.

NYC is lame thanks to Guiliani. Police State??. I can't wipe my nose without getting harrassed by some undercover. It's the #1 reason I moved back to JC from Brooklyn. I'm anxious to see the wave of whiney topics if one day the JCPD strictly enforces quality of life offenses. You people will be crying about them not busting " the real criminals ".

I got a single speed 26inch ( not fixie ) and it's the best. When it's warm I try to get in atleast 10miles a few times a week on it. It's kinda shitty the lightrail/path trains aren't bike friendly during peek hours. I've gotten into heated shouting matches with over zealous path employees trying to enforce the 3:30 time at 2:45-3:00 going towards NYC.. It's pretty pointless if you live downtown to lock your bike up at the station and leave it for 8-10 hours.

Anyone else have a JCPD car tell them to get on the sidewalk?? It's happened to me a few times and it was weird... I'm not complaining people drive crazy on Palisade ave late at night.. That's an instant summons in NYC

The fact that this is even a topic proves JCList is full of out of town gayness. If you're that disturbed by a garbage truck, maybe you shouldn't be living in a CITY!!!... This is the shit that baffles me. You want to move to a city then turn around and whine about everything living in a city brings.. Stop crying.

O yea, for those who live in the area. After he ' shot into the air ' there were police on ladders trying to pick out a slug that hit the blue building across from jordan's on 2nd/newark. One bullet hit the building and the hole in the vinyl siding is still there. that's a bad attempt to shoot into the air. from what i've read he was on the ground when he shot into the air. for a bullet to hit a building is reckless.

He doesn't have a concealed weapons permit. Those are next to impossible to obtain in NJ unless you are a retired policeman. He was permitted to have the gun on him within his business as is the case with gun shop owners. He was across the street going home after closing up shop when the incident occured.

I'm all for the 2nd amendment. I think people with clean backgrounds should be allowed to own guns, but this dude is a loon. He is a blatant racist and enjoys starting confrontations with people over nothing. If you're in his shop alone and mention something about not feeling safe walking home at night. I can guarantee he'll drop the N bomb. He has with me when I went in there to ask about paintball guns. A lot of people I know have the same story too.

Re: Murders down for second straight year

Murders county wide are way down in 07. It's pretty much a joke compared to any other metropolis. There's no sub-categories to hide murder within the stats. I think there were 55 in Hudson county in 2005 ( correct me if that is wrong ) That was 'the fluke year' due to some cases of mass homicide. One case in the heights and one in greenville. Hudson county has an an extremely low murder rate compared to pretty much anywhere else. Baltimore for example has about the same population as hudson county and has over 250 murders consistently every year. Sad.

I was pretty shocked to see my hometown West New York in 2nd place with 4 homicides in 2007. ( statistically about the same as JC according to population ). Can't wait to get my ass back up there and escape this prissy poo ridden place of out of towner whiners.

Re: Where is the cheapest movie theater in Jersey City area?

( shameless plug because I grew up in that neighborhood)

There's the Mayfair Triplex on 64th and Park ave in West New York. Gets major movies on release dates. Two small theatres and one huge one. Pretty dirty and grimey, but 5bucks. About a half hour busride from downtown JC. The 86p takes you right there, or the jitneys but they leave you about 5blocks away on Bergenline Ave. Something different to do on a boring day I guess. Dope views of midtown NYC a block away on Blvd East too.
