Re: Hamilton Park Renovation - Update

I had a lovely encounter with a dog hating psycho on Sunday. I was walking my leashed dog on the walkway heading toward the exit on W. Hamilton & Pavonia. Right before the exit my dog stopped and peed on a light post. Some guy who I've never seen in this neighborhood before starting shaking his head and give me the look of death. He mumbled things like "that's disgusting" and "this is unbelievable!" I was extremely confused. I started to look around because I had no idea who he was talking to or why he was so upset. He continued to glare at me with his hands on his hips and the universal WTF? look on his face. I asked him what was wrong and he said "that's disgusting. Dogs aren't allowed on the grass!" I asked him to show me a sign, but obviously he wasn't able to do that because there aren't any. This back and forth argument continued on way longer than it should have. I have never seen anyone get so worked up over 2 drops of pee on a light post! It wasn't even on the grass! Ridiculous.

I have no problem with a dog free zone as long as the area is clearly marked.
All you Hamilton Park anti-dog crazies really need to relax and stay out of other peoples business. At least wait until they actually put up the signs before you start playing Park Police.

JC ordinance requiring credit card for hotel/motel rental
#4

I was recently told by two Police Officers that JC has an ordinance requiring hotels/motels to obtain a credit card from every person renting a room. I'm surprised they are allowed to do that. Every hotel I?ve been to gives the option of paying with a credit card or paying cash. If you pay cash, you have to leave an additional deposit for damages or incidentals. I?ve searched online for information about this ordinance, but I haven't been able to find anything. Does anyone know anything about this? Is it even true? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I ashamed to even admit I know who he is, but I saw Zac Efron walking out of the Doubletree Hotel last Friday.

If you're looking for a good laugh try I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell by Tucker Max. It's a pretty disgusting book, but it's hilarious.

Diesel fuel spill in Newport
by Craig Garretson
Sunday February 17, 2008, 6:53 PM

Two Jersey City cops with a nose for trouble helped sniff out a leaking underground fuel tank.

The two officers were on patrol in Newport last night when they smelled a strong chemical odor. They followed their noses to an underground tank on Pavonia Avenue, where a faulty valve had allowed some diesel fuel to seep out and drain into stormwater sewers that flow into the Hudson River.

Workers shut down the valve and a team from Ken's Marine in Bayonne cleaned up the fuel that had drained into the Hudson River.

"Thanks to two observant and fast-acting police officers, we were able to bring this situation quickly under control," Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy said.

NEW YORK?The Coast Guard is investigating a reported 100-gallon diesel oil spill in the Newport Marina in Jersey City, N.J. reported around 9:30 p.m. today.

A Jersey City Fire Department marine unit contacted Coast Guard Sector New York via marine band radio to notify them that 100-gallons of diesel fuel was reportedly discharged into the marina by a faulty generator on shore.

Coast Guard Sector New York immediately sent two pollution investigators to Newport Marina to investigate.

"Our objective at this early stage is to secure the source of the spill, contain it and prevent any further pollution from entering the water," said Lt. j.g. Richard Sullivan, Command Duty Officer at Sector New York.

Newport Marina is located just north of the Morris Canal.

This incident is under investigation

I went by there this morning and there's a strong odor of gas and you can see a rainbow colored film on top of the water. They put those floating barricades in the water to keep a lot of it contained, but it looks like there was a lot that still escaped. There were a few people from some cleanup group standing around with clip boards, but when I asked what happened the guy said he couldn't disclose that information. Shady.

The signs say 2 hour parking without a permit. It's pretty much the same everywhere so pay the $15 and get a permit

No one is safe from the JC Parking Authority

I just had to share this hilarious incident I just witnessed. There is a cop(Not a JC Cop) that lives on my street. He thinks parking rules don't apply to him. He's always parked in front of the fire hydrant at night and he never gets a ticket.

The street sweeper just came down my street and he's the ONLY one that feels he doesn't need to move his car to the other side of the street. As the sweeper is coming down the street the parking authority guy pulls up to this guys car and starts writing him a ticket. He comes running out of his apartment in his boxers holding his badge in the air and waving his arms...YO YO YOO I'm a cop! The parking authority guy waved and put the ticket on his windshield. HILARIOUS! It just made my day.
