I was going to go, but got held up at work.

Did anyone discuss littering and graffiti? Also, I wanted to submit a proposal...no pajama pants in public after 12pm...did anyone discuss that idea?

The victim still hasn't been identified per NBC 4 News @ 6.

This poor guy gets savagely beaten and after 5 days has not been identified and based on the pic from the news, looks like he can't even speak.

The parent(s) need(s) to get a grip on the kids and these kids need to step up and take responsibilty, but it just looks like a lost cause.

It's half-assed and lazy and sums up the lack of pride in this city.

just got my December bill and my cable went up $8 for no apparent reason except for the customer service rep lecturing me on competition.

for sitting on God's lap, you have some pretty twisted sexual thoughts.

Thanks for your spiritual guidance, however, in wishing us hell. maybe we are already in it.

My wife and I do an over/under on pros we see when driving on Tonnelle and we see at least one 9 out of 10 times regardless of time of day.

Maybe this bust will force us to do an over/under on people we see blatanlty littering while driving through JC.

Screw it, we'll do both.

Heights - Riverview Park

if anyone is interested, the Riverview Neighborhood Assoc is hosting "Parkfest and Flea Market" in Riverview-Fisk Park
which is by Ogden/Palisade between Bowers and Griffith in the Heights.

I just walked by and from a distance it looked pretty cool, especially given the weather and scenery of the skyline.

I'm heading over there in a few and I will follow-up with a review.

On another Heights note, I heard that an Organic Farm Market is coming to the neighborhood in October.

Bookkeepers and Answering Services

Have any condo associations had any luck with hiring bookkeepers and/or answering services in lieu of a Prop Manager? My association is considering this because of lousy prop management.

Did I spell bookkeeper correctly? Weird word to spell.

Diminshed Capacity starring Matthew Broderick, Alan Alda and Virginia Madson is coming out in June or July and had scenes filmed at the Armory.

Re: Problems With RobinsOak Management

RobinsOak was hired by us and fired in less than 6 months. Absolutely afwul. Bldg Mgts are generally a disappointment but these guys take the cake.

The founder/owner is smart and comes across very professional and knowledgeable, but it is all a front. He lied and lied and distanced himself as time went on. The Prop Manager we were given was pure comedy too. When they are mentioned in our building, people just laugh as in it is so bad that you gotta laugh.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Arnie Diaz shaking these people down.

the same problems in the heights are the same problems you get in Hudson county. I think people are really painting a bad picture here.

I have been here for a few years and it has noticebly gotten better. The kids and young kids are causing problems in Hoboken and downtown JC as well. Reading the JJ is sobering, but the crimes are happening elsewhere too...not just the heights.

i'm kinda going in cirlces here, but I recall a heights thread that was recent and a lot more positive. Before moving here, I lived in Manhattan and Hoboken and didn't even know about the Heights. It definietly has improved and belive or not, I like it better than Hobo (not Manhattan).

Last thing...they are putting a NJ Transit busline on Palisades April 5th, so getting to the city will be easier, although it is still very easy and painless to get in without it.

I'll be there.

Did the Meadowlands provide odds on Healy's appearance? Wonder if the odds will be like the Giants' odds in the Superbowl.

In my experience taking the bus home from Port, it is standing room only. Albeit, this may be a lot of Bayonners, but I have seen more and more people get off in JCH. Stopping this service will hurt the Heights at a time where this will be tough to overcome given the recent Real Estate issues here. If these elected officials give a damn about this city, then it would be wise to table this until things improve here and everywhere US in general.

Re: What kind of neighborhood is the Heights in Jersey City?

The heights has gotten a lot better. I moved in in '05 and in 2+ years, it has improved drastically from my view-point. I believe the current housing market is what is keeping prices down. Although I would love to see Central Ave in the same ballgame as Washington in Hoboken, I prefer the Heights to Hobo, and I have lived in both places. Hobo is a dark vertical city that defines the word gluttony. The Heights is a neihborhood that gets less Hood by the day. Palisades is kind of a sad story because there aren't many aves in the state or surrounding boros that can boast a Manhattan view -- Palisades has tons of potential, as does Central, which seems to be getting better. My question about Central is, why do we need 400 99cent stores? I use one or 2, and they serve its purpose, but why so many? On the flip-side, Central seems to be updating itself, as there is a new, beautiful corner retail spot a couple blocks north of Bowers - the yellow bldg.

A gripe of mine is the city needs to put garabge cans on some corners -- the heights has a lot of litterers that do not give a F. Dog stuff is an issue too. Also, parking is pretty easy, but was a lot easier a couple years ago.

All in all, I am glad I moved here. I work in the city and my commute is easy and cheap. I have a lot of space and my apt would probably be 50% - 100% more in Hobo -- which looks like Co-Op City by the GW. Crime seems more petty and the cops are pretty good. The aluminum siding's gotta go, though, as it is hiding pretty decent architecture.

Good luck on your move as you will cleary not be in KS anymore. You picked the right spot as this is a real-deal urban sitch, with a lot of good things going for it, which should keep getting better.
