The Drum Den and Guitar Bar in Hoboken can't be beat! I've heard mixed reviews (at best) about Metropolis Music.

This lineup is worthy of a venue like Lincoln Center! I'm so pleased to see this in my neighborhood, and for free!! See you there.

Call JC's tenant relations office. They have lots of good information, and are on your side. A landlord cannot kick you out for not paying an increase--they can ONLY evict you through a court order. They can only increase rent once per year, and it doesn't matter if they haven't raised it in ten years, they cannot raise it an "unconscionable" amount. A judge will take into account lost or gained utilities, upgrades, etc, etc.

The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and the prices are more than fair. In fact, I've been given unexpected discounts a few times when buying multiple items or services. I'm getting a headache just thinking about the line at the Staples copy center, and the service--the worst! I'll take postnet any day over these big box print/ship stores.

Re: Buon Appetito - new restaurant on Grove Street

love their food, but FYI...

I'm very sorry to report that I have given up on my new fav downtown italian joint, Buon Apetito. The food is good, hot and reasonably priced and the people are friendly, but after the last few orders, it has come to my attention that they have been intentionally over-charging me.

First, I ordered a chix-pasta dish priced at ten bucks. I ordered it with whole wheat pasta and I went to pick it up, asked for the italian bread they stock, not a soft roll. No problem, but they charged me an extra two dollars. When I asked about the up-charge, the owner(i believe) told me they charge extra for the whole wheat pasta....oh, and the bread, too! (neither was on the menu). No big deal.

Next time, I ordered the same dish, without the wheat pasta, or ital bread, but they still charged me the extra two dollars. This time, they told me the prices had gone up and they didn't print the new menu yet. Seems fishy.

Third order....ok, so this time, my girlfriend thinks I'm just crazy and cheap, so she went to pick up a pizza and see if she has a similar experience. Sure enough, she got charged an extra 2 bucks and change for the medium pie with one topping. This time, after she complained the guy have her a dollar back, saying he rang it up wrong. (I think not)

Dollar here, dollar there.
Sorry, it's just bad business, and they won't get mine!

The JJ can't survive because of the outrageous cost of delivery by the NJ teamsters as well as the increasing loss of advertisers. We should all push the Star-Ledger (JJ's parent company) to step up their Jersey City coverage and help keep an eye on our city's government, crime and schools.

JCLIST can't do it alone!

Wherever you go, make sure it's not AAMCO. The work they did on my car was bad and expensive.

trust me on this one, try...

Al at Tonnelle Auto by the White Mana on Manhattan ave. (and grab lunch while you're at it).
He's good and cheap. This is the only mechanic you need to know in jc.
The address is 505 Tonnelle ave, but the garage entrance is on Ann St.

I'm a manly man and I've had great experiences at this upscale salon. My lady friend goes there as well and loves it.

For you carless downtowners....take the Montgomery/Westside bus from Grove PATH to the intersection of Montgomery and Bergen, aka McGinley Square. Walk 2 blocks south on bergen to find Imago. If you drive, they've got a parking lot!

Good people. Great cut. Just do it people!

my neighbor made a website so we'd all catch the train on time. NJtransit and PATH timetables that are user friendly. Simple, but it works great.

I get mine at Hoboken beer and soda outlet for $4 for a 5 gallon jug plus deposit. I also just came across a flower shop in the heights that will fill your 5 gallon jug for $3.

These items can be dropped off at the JCIA year round. The spring cleaning fair is simply a reminder to dispose of them properly.

DO NOT USE AAMCO. The guys there are super nice, but they will rip you off super bad. I like Meinieke just a few blocks past Aamco on JFK. I had my transmission replaced, but by the dealer. Yes, of course it cost more, but it came with a 15,000 mile warranty on the parts and labor. Most other mechanics will give you only 3,000 miles.
