How far will 2.1 million go? Even thecrappiest houses in the worst neighborhoods go for 200k.

What a waste.

I understand that 1.3 could be used for cheerleader outfits and kickballs, but with no field where would these sports take place.

Turf is essential for urban sports to thrive. I could question this move if we were in Kansas surrounded by fields, but aren't....no turf=sports in dirt boxes=not fun=low participation.

That said what about just putting down some grass seed.

"Grow Up"...no grow out.

We need to spend more money on athletics, then maybe we could have less crime, which would lead to less police, which would mean $savings.

We need to spend more money on athletics, then maybe we would have less overweight cows going to the doctor/ER and increasing health care costs, which governments subsidize.

I know that it is an oversimplification, but there is a correlation.

And grass dies with overuse, think that happens in Metro cities? Find one grass field open for community sports and see if has any grass, ex. J J Braddock park in WNY.

I understand for the most part one can avoid being booted, but the JCPA is over the top.

Tickets/booting are obviously a good moneymaker for the city.

This is a different story for every different area of the country.

I understand the cost of a mortgage now vs 2 years ago and that is a reasonable concern..for the people who can't afford their mortgage.

I however think there are a lot more people who can't afford what they got themselves into in other parts of the country than here.

Even if they did they would be much more likely to get themselves out here as apposed to other parts.

Now JC has different areas, but I think as a whole it is going to be GREAT.

Like I said before. Jersey City is just now becoming a viable and attractive location to live for the biggest city in the country....I think that will offset any increase in typical buying deterrents.

For people wondering about Jersey City. I think it is completely different than 99% of other markets in this country.

It is undergoing a major change over the last 10 years which will more than compensate for uncertainties in the mortgage and housing markets as a whole.

Prices are going to come down a little, but that is just a correction from the 200% increases we witnessed over the early 2000's.

I don't think they are going to crash by any means, but when you look at a "normal" 5-6% annual appreciation in the housing market over eternity, then you have the outrageous appreciation over the last 8 years, that leads me to believe there is a correction coming.

I do think you will see a small correction now, then an extended period (3-5 years) of flat prices while natural forces catch up.

The mortgage problem is temporary, that will work itself out, when normal business and lending practices prevail over 350 credit scores getting 105% financing on properties.

Well I must agree with the posters that suggested the Water Gap, as it is a great area, that is very large with completely different opportunities.

Canoeing the Delaware is great fun. My favorite trip is the matamoras to Dingmans ferry and camping along the river. 99% sure that you can take a bus there and the company will pick you up.

Also, on the southern part of the park, where 80 crosses over to PA, the AT(appalachian trail) runs north and there are many other trails, long and short, difficult to easy, which lead to different attractions, a glacier pond, great view, etc.

This area I consider the closest area to actually get into the "real" outdoors. Also, you can take buses there, even if you have to go to Easton and take a cab back.

Farther north you can hit Harrimans, but I don't like it because of the crowds this time of year. Buses go there.

My second favorite for this area is the Catskills, which have everything. Buses or trains take you to Kingston, from there I would hitchhike.

I am seeing that I am rambaling, so I am going to stop here. I obviously love the outdoors and have gone a lot of places around here. PM if you want more info.

peace, and have fun wherever you go.

I agree the parking is awful. First I don't think that we should prohibit any resident from a parking pass, regardless of what type of apartment they live in.

Secondly, I don't understand why they don't put lines down to mark the parking spots. Then you don't have some idiot taking up four spots. They have them everywhere down at the shore and you can at least know what is a spot and it keeps things "neater".

It is only going to get worse, and I mean MUCH MUCH WORSE.

What about municipal parking lots?

You should be able to find a nice, big 1 bedroom or a small 2 bedroom in the newark to holland, erie to monmouth area for $1350 a month, or even in the van vorst area you should be able to find a 1 bedroom for $1350 a month.

Even in these areas it all boils down to being street smart. There are plenty of crimes in Kansas as well, so any area can be dangerous. In Kansas its just kids with shovels instead of bricks, and they want money to buy a fishing lure instead of Crack.

Know your surroundings and be smart.
