Re: Visitor Parking Permits/Parking Regulations

Does anyone know if Mr. Fulop's ordinance passed that allows residents to purchase visitor parking passes from City Hall, instead of going to the parking authority on Central Ave? There is no reference to this on the city hall website or the parking authority website, unfortunately.

I spoke to a number of people in grove pt (downtown at 100 Columbus Dr- 400+ apartments in the building) including a doorman and we have not received any census forms.

It seems silly for everyone to have to go to the library to get a form. how can we have them mail everyone in the building forms?

I've spoken to people in 5 other apartments in Grove Pt- none of us received Census forms! That's a lot of missed people, especially if they've missed other new buildings...

I've gotten the reminders but not the actual census form. I live in Grove Pt. I asked the doorman if he had noticed if people had given their forms to him to mail, and he said, yah you know, I haven't noticed people mailing the forms. So, I'm wondering if some of the new buildings have been missed...

Re: Visitor Parking Permits/Parking Regulations- new info

I haven't been to the JCPA to get a parking pass in about a year and a half, so I learned a few things during my visit today (grrr):

Visitor parking passes are no longer free- they are three dollars per pass, which can only be used on one car for one day each. The good news is that it appears you can buy as many as you want when you make a trip, so you don't have to keep going back with the liscense plate number, etc, each time you need one if you just stock up.

JCPA does not accept cash or credit, so remember your check book or you can buy a money order in the post office next door.

And you have to fill out one of the regular parking pass forms for whatever reason when you get there, I guess so they can look up your name and address to make sure you are a resident.

Of course, none of this information about visitor passes is posted anywhere in the parking office, or from what I could find online, even though the policy seems to have changed only a couple months ago (where you used to walk in, give them lisense plate numbers, and get passes for free).
So I waited in line, then they told me I needed to fill out a form. I waited in line again, and then was told that each pass was 3$, and that they didn't take cash. I waited in line again at the post office to buy the money order. I waited in line again at the parking office only to learn that you need to purchase a pass for each individual day, instead of them giving you one for multiple days for the same car like they used to. Fortunately, instead of waiting in line again at the post office then again at the JCPA, the woman let me buy another one with three dollars in cash. An hour later, I left.
I didn't realize until I left that I could have stocked up on parking passes, but I didn't feel like waiting in line at the post office again for another money order.

So now after reading all of your posts about booting, do I need to use one of my precious parking passes if my visitor arrives after 3pm on one of the days? (because I thought visitors were okay after 5 and before 9am, and after 3pm since they can park for 2 hours anywhere). Please tell me no.

Re: Who here really, really hates Comcast?

Comcast now has double-play deals which you can get instead of paying for all three services even though you only want 2/3. I was thrilled about this and switched to it last month. I still have problems with Comcast, but at least I don't have to pay for the phone I don't ever use. 66$ a month beats $103.

Street sweeping tomorrow (Lincoln's birthday/state holiday)?

I tried to search for the city holiday calendar that has been posted on JClist, but I was unable to locate it. Could someone tell me if the city is closed tomorrow (because the state is), meaning I don't have to move my car? The JCIA phone number wasn't helpful. Thanks!

Re: Correct Recycling Preparation?

I live near Sweet Pricillas on Jersey and our bottles and cans recycling hasn't been picked up 2 weeks in a row now. The first week we brought it back into the apartment to wait for next week's pick up, and this time we just threw it in the garbage can on the street after it wasn't picked up for the second time. Our whole side of the block was missed. I thought I heard the recycling truck come by last night (friday night) though I might be wrong. We always put ours in the blue bags.
