Re: New York Times: A Bold New Place as Strong as Its Name -- Newark Avenue's OX

Unlike the majority here, I didn't like the food at Ox, and was cyber crucified by the masses on JC List.... but yes the service was great and a very friendly staff.

I'm an M&P groupie...eat there 2-3 times a week and I love the food. the staff there is not as friendly but "they know me" and I always get good service.

The few times I've been to Beachwood were miserable....service wise. They could care less about taking care of their customers.

that's what I most like about Ox, as opposed to the petulant hipster staff at M&P and Beechwood.

I love this place....some of the best Thai around, a great addition to downtown.

My addictions are the spicy chicken wings and the fried flounder with ginger sauce....just sublime.

The first time I went the service was ok....but since I've been back a few times and they "know me' they are a bit friendlier.

The wine list could be better. over all this one is a winner!

What's next? Does anybody know when the City Council Dog and Pony show is? We all know the Toll plan is a done deal but I for one plan to at least make some more noise about it.....

I make it a point to support local Jersey City "indie" business. Any rest, especially a new one can have a bad nite. I tried it a couple of times, was not impressed...will give it a few months and try it again... lighten up!

in any event, if the City does not stop developers like Toll from taking over JC and rasing the rents through the roof like they have done in Manhattan, Williamsburg, DUMBO ect OX is going to become an Olive Garden.

Sorry I don't get it......I've been there a few times and it's a Manhattan wanna be. If I want trendy over priced weird food, i'll stay in the City.

Sorry for any confusion. One of the "Lapdogs" mentoned that he had been to Baltimore's Powerhouse and it could be a model for ours. Yes it is a different developer, nothing to do with the current proposal. I've been to the one in Baltimore and its' a big shopping mall anchored by a big B&N bookstore...the closest thing to art is the art book section. I also know the Toll's , my company does work for them...the slogan on their letter head reads "AMERICA'S LUXURY HOME BUILDER". I guess a $5000 a month apt in JC would seem "affordable" to someone paying $12,000 a month in Manhattan n'est pas? I'm sure if you fill out that little drawing test in the back of TV guide you can qualify for one of the bargandada artists studio's as well. When is the City council vote? We "Jane Jacob's" have our work cut out!
