At least SOMEONE is telling them that they can't sell drugs on wayne street.

I somehow missed this comment when you posted it, but I had the exact same thought tonight as I passed the park. Why are the Montgomery Bloods so much more proactive about policing their turf than the police are?

Maybe I should have worded it a little better. The bloods from Montgomery that went there and said no one could sell drugs there any more on Wayne were trying to take over the park for themselves to sell drugs. People from Columbus didnt want them taking over thats when they attacked them.

MS-13 is the fastest growing gang of organized criminals in the US, of course their crime is still small-time compared to the fraudsters that run the banks on Wall St.

Yes there the fastest growing gang in the country but there a Central American gang and the majority of hispanics in Jersey City are Puerto Rican, Dominican, and Cuban. Sure there around but there more of a problem in places that have a high Central American population. They tried to establish themselves here years ago but were ran out of the city for the most part by local Latin Kings.

Well, like I posted in the thread on the "wolfpack" who attacked the 60 year old man, the machete attacks are indigenous to the Ms13 gang.....this city needs a gang outreach program.

Its not something specific to Ms-13. In this area dominican gangs such as DDP and Trini choose machetes as there weapon of choice. If you were to read all the news reports over the years about machetes being used in assaults in Jersey City and Union City the majority involve one or both of these gangs. You probably keep mentioning Ms-13 because they are fresh in your head from hearing about the
Newark slayings. Ms-13 has very weak membership in Jersey City.

Armed drug dealers are taken off the streets
Tuesday, July 17, 2007
By MICHAELANGELO CONTE
JOURNAL STAFF WRITER

Jersey City cops busted four men on drug charges and seized a handgun while doing surveillance in Greenville Friday, officials said.

At 6:29 p.m., police arrested Douglas Hall, 41, of Duncan Avenue, and Rowan A. Vassell, 28, of Stegman Street, charging both with numerous drug-dealing charges, reports said. Hall was also charged with weapons offenses, including possession of a weapon by a felon, reports said.

Working on a tip, cops set up surveillance at Arlington and Myrtle avenues and watched as Hall and Vassell allegedly took turns accepting money from people in exchange for drugs, reports said. While watching, Hall took off his shirt and cops said they saw a pistol tucked in his waistband, reports said.

When police closed on the pair, Vassell ran away through yards but was caught and found to have two large bags containing suspected marijuana, reports said.

Hall ran into a building and numerous officers entered to find him walking down the stairs in a changed shirt and asking "What's going on?" reports said. He was arrested and police found an empty holster in his waistband, reports said. In an apartment police found a semiautomatic handgun, five sandwich bags containing suspected marijuana, and drug paraphernalia, reports said.

Also arrested for possession of marijuana after visiting with Hall and Vassell, were Michael Pleasants, 24, of Highland Avenue, and Nathaniel Robertson, 26, of Clerk Street, reports said.

Re: Jersey City crime down in all categories except rape

I wonder how much crime there really is in Jersey City, I say this because the younger generation 13-25 are alot less likley to report crimes they witness or are victims of. With youth crime up I wonder if it is worst then the reports indicate since the risk is higher for young men and teens to be victims of crime. We here all these reports of wolfpacks of kids I wonder how many people are victims of this that dont report the crimes against them. Todays generation of teens has no snitching mentality so I wonder how much this effects stats.

If everyone really wants to know where I had recieved this information it was from a witness that lives on that block that saw the incident unfold. The reason I made this post was the story was one sided, not to discredit Infantes I even said he didnt deserve to be hit like that. Not only did the witness tell me the story this was also made public on the news months after his death and the person that told me the story repeated this to the reporters. Someone stated I couldnt read but if you actually look this up on google or yahoo almost every article has a different story and most of these articles are on police websites. Some articles state there was two pipes used others that it was four feet long. pictures of "the pipe" used showed it was a tool used to raise a basketball rim it was layed next to near where the fight began. The man didnt run to the garage like someone stated it was right there on the floor next to the men. The person that told me what happened also stated there was no crying kids visible like some artiles also state. I dont say anything bad about Infantes himself in my post just people dont like to hear the truth about what happened. This whole thing began with a drunk neighbor that got mad that a firecracker jumped a couple inches onto his property on 4th of July and took it upon himself to curse out kids for something that harmed no one or put anyone at risk then when the childrens family came in defense the man provoked a fight. The Gaminas should have believed that Infantes was a officer and the officer in no way did anything wrong all Im saying is his friend started the incident it just went further then he intended. Most of what was told to the media was statements given by police they just gave oneside of the story. If im not believed look this up on google and yahoo, even though no articles state what I say almost all have different versions(why is it so hard to belive the police didnt want these little details released)

Alot of the real story was twisted to make it sound like the officer was attacked. The officer was never in the wrong just walked into a bad situation and thought he was helping his friend from being attacked, but the suspects weren't the cold blooded killers they were made out to be. It was the kids of one of the suspects playing with fireworks when a drunk friend of infates went over threatened the kids and made some nasty remarks to the kids, the suspects over heard the man yelling at the kids went to defend the kids when they were pushed by the drunk man who said he was a cop, (the men knew the neighbor wasnt a cop) he pushed the suspects a fight began that is when infantes showed up to defend his friend he thought was being attacked. He said he was a officer showed his badge but the two men believed he was lieing also and continued to fight, Infantes and his friend grabbed one of the suspects this is when infantes was hit with a iron tool used to raise basketball rims. He was only hit by one brother and wasnt beaten he was hit because the man thought he was defending his brother from harm. This is why one got off and the other was found guilty of reckless manslaughter. Infantes didnt deserve to die that way but it wasnt like he was attacked the way that article makes it sound. Infantes friend should go to jail also for provoking the incident that lead to his friends death.

The curfew is 10:30 for kids 16 and under. Ten years ago the curfew was some what enforced with a curfew van but I havent seen it enforced in years. Recently the police said they were going to get a curfew van for each precinct but they will probably just enforce curfew for a few months then forget about it again. As for the parks I believe there isnt a time the parks close, the only park I know of that is ever closed at night is on the west slope in the hieghts and it is only closed because area residents chain it at night.

Beetle juice from the Howard Stern show lives in the Hieghts. Joe Budden lives by Bergen ave. Tommy from Martin used to live by Newport towers, I dont know if he still does. Michelle Rodriguez used to live in the Hieghts and own a store on Central Ave. Rappers Hitchcock and Ranson of A-Team are from Montgomery.

Kermit you helped me understand why people were upset but it more depends on the way you read it. What I see the problem is that people are replacing Many with Most in there mind instead of reading what it says I by no means meant most thats why i put not all in my response when I wrote it. This is what i meant when I wrote they see every thing as right and wrong and not in between. Thank you kermit for your post. As for the bear that putz comment shows how good you are at making a good argument as to why you disagree I dont mind people that disagree just give me a good reason for so.

Thank you for the welcome I purposely post coments like that and many of my other ones to make people that disagree want to respond I want to see what people are really thinking about these topics and why they think a certain way. Because alot of people in here see everything as right or wrong, black and white. They dont recognize that there are grey areas and sometimes there is no right or wrong. Im not just talking about this topic but others I responded to because I already have gotten a few people mad in here but i think its good for them to have different out looks even if they do disagree.

I was just trying to make a point i just dont like the idea of a vigilanty group going around playing cop. I can see them harassing people that look "suspicous" that probably are harmless i feel they should just let the police handle crime besides from my experience the people that "think" they are helping are the ones that end up the victim of a crime.

I am glad to see a crooked prosecutor go to jail. Many people with positions like his (not all) feel they are above the law and they are the type of people that knowingly put innocent people behind bars.

Im very against the angels if they really want to patrol a crime infested neighborhood go through The Hill (Greenville)
along Jackson ave (MLK) or communipaw. DownTown has lower crime stats then alot of neighborhoods. It seems like they have nothing better to do. I used to live in DownTown and ill tell you its the best I have seen it in a while but the people that always complain about DownTown are the new residents that moved in within the last 7 or 8 years from Hoboken and Manhatten. These new residents are always complaining about somthing.
