Re: Ordinance for Security Cameras - Steven Fulop

I appreciate your ideas to make Jersey City safer - although I am not one of your constituents, if the city is safer, I am safer.

I am curious who will monitor the cameras once they are installed. I assume from the press release that since the cameras have to be compatible with JCPD?s camera system, that they will do the monitoring. Are there funds ready to hire extra officers to monitor the feed from the cameras? If not, are we diverting street patrol officers to monitoring duties? Ideally, we could add beat cops and have the cameras. Also, who is responsible for maintenance ? what if a camera breaks? If it is the developer, how do we make sure they maintain the camera?

Well, he certainly didn't have a baby there, but my dad spent two weeks post-operation at Hackensack University Medical Center last August. The staff was the best - nurses were friendly and helpful, administrative staff very nice too. And a beautiful facility. It is like a hotel.

My only fear is that if you use that hospital and have a fast delivery, you won't make it to the hospital. It took me about a half hour/45 minutes to get there every day, and that was at off hours with no traffic. Rt. 17 and the GWB are right there and can make things a mess.

This discussion highlights the fact that Police Chief Troy had not planned on serving the duration of Healy's administration instead retiring after a year and a half or so.

Regardless of whether he planned to stay or not, Troy has to decide what he wants. Stay, or retire. Either way, crime is going up and we need someone to tackle the problem head on. If Troy can't commit to JC, then he should leave so we can bring someone in who will be committed to the City and to decreasing crime.
