Our sister shelter, Palisades Emergency Residence Corporation (aka PERC), is currently accepting men's casual pants (jeans or track pants), athletic sneakers and tees. No dresswear, please!

You can also take a look at our Amazon wishlist to see our most updated needs.

Happy spring!

Ways to support homeless individuals and families this winter!

Greetings from PERC Shelter in Union City. We are a subsidiary of Garden State Episcopal CDC, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing emergency help, social services, outreach and affordable housing in Hudson County.

A few quick ways to help:

- Visit our Amazon wishlist. Right now we are urgently in need of men's gloves, hats and thermals. Alternatively, you may drop off new or gently used gloves, hats and men's coats at our emergency shelter in Union City between 10-8 on weekdays.

-Make a donation at any level to help keep our critical programming running. Did you know that we send outreach teams out into the community EVERY DAY, and that we target the most vulnerable and resistant individuals?

-Host a sandwich-making party. We are always in need of large numbers (100+) of pb&j sandwiches to distribute!

-Beyond these palliative measures, you can become an informed advocate. Get involved at the local level and talk to your neighbors!

-Volunteer with us! Please see our current volunteer opportunities. Right now we are most in need of office interns to help support our donor relations and fundraising efforts.

Please email info@percshelter.org to get started!

Thanks all for the compassionate dialogue.

It's true that the root causes of homelessness are myriad and complex, which is why we engage with the crisis on multiple platforms--from emergency services to affordable housing to mental health programming (to name a few).

If you prefer, you can think about the concept of reducing homelessness. This is an equally meaningful goal.

Another way folks can easily help out is by purchasing items off our Amazon Wishlist:

How will YOU help end homelessness in Hudson County?

Located in Hudson County, GSECDC and PERC are sister organizations with over sixty years of combined experience dedicated to ending homelessness.

Between our overnight shelter, soup kitchen, homeless drop-in center, social services and community outreach, we require a vast amount of material supplies to respond to the needs of the homeless community in Hudson County.

Help us prepare for the cold season by participating in our Longest Night Campaign Kickoff Event! The event is our way of raising much-needed funds to help get us through the long winter.

Please see our website, www.gsecdc.org, to buy event tickets, sponsorships or ad space in our event journal, and follow us on Facebook and Twitter for frequent updates.

For information about hosting a supplies drive (i.e. paper goods, socks, outerwear, toiletries, etc) or volunteering with us, please send an email to volunteer@gsecdc.org.
