Historical Property Records?
#1

Has anyone delved into researching their house going back in time? I have a circa-1900 townhouse that I'm just curious to know the history. The online property tax resources I've found only go back 10 years or so. Is there a Hudson County/Jersey City property records office that can be visited to pull records? Any advice on how to go about it?

3 hours and 15 minutes at the fire station on Marin and Eighth having arrived at 7:15. They did have two machines for Ward 9, but only one operating because they were short people. Complete fucking debacle. Line had only grown by the time I was done, was wrapped around the corner up by the ballfield.

I'd be interested. I may not fit the profile exactly - I work at home ~2-3 days a week and work on programming side projects on free time. A simple, flexible space outside of my apt for that at a reasonable price would be ideal. As far as where, in or around downtown - thinking off the top of my head about those industrial buildings north of Hamilton Park or more into the Heights off 139.

I used to walk across this intersection as well as 2nd and Marin a fair bit. My sense was that the typical driver up or down Marin tends to exceed the speed limit and is often oblivious of the "stop for pedestrian" signage and other signals.

THIS. No one seems to understand that pedestrians have the right of way at an uncontrolled intersection or crosswalk.

I had a few exchanges with drivers who would honk, yell or glare if I would attempt to walk across Marin using the crosswalk in full view of the "stop for pedestrian" signage.

THIS TOO. I have had my fair share of exchanges. Drivers do not care. Especially the ones that are simply going through JC on their way somewhere else. The Marin Blvd traffic is often people heading into the city, or leaving JC to jump on the turnpike or 1/9. I wish cops would step up enforcement of the "yield to pedestrians" violations, just like they have stepped up enforcement of the no left turn at Marin (from Columbus).

I've had my fair share of pedestrians who ignore the traffic signals.

And that has to do what exactly with people behind the wheel of 4,000 pound weapons speeding through crosswalks where pedestrians have the right of way?

Is the whole walkway around the clock open now? I was wondering the other day when that was going to happen...

Had dinner there on Friday. Service was friendly, food was great - definitely more up to date and higher quality "new american" than at Marco & Pepe's, for example. Took a little while for the food to arrive, but to be expected at a place that just opened. Glad to finally have a new option in the neighborhood - will definitely be back on a regular basis. Also, the complimentary Torico's ice cream at the end of the meal was great. Like that they're supporting local businesses (like ModCup as well).
