#1

Newbie

Just posting this here because the hearing notices coming from the attorney are sent Certified Mail, and it looks like many of these notices go unclaimed. Just wanted to spread the word for any folks who are concerned:

6 story/60 unit story condo building (plus parking garage) proposed at 387 8th street by Jones Park, in the current AmCare lot.

An application has been filed with the JC Zoning Board for:
-Use variance to permit a 6 story over garage and mezzazine multi-family residential units along with 43 parking spaces in the R-1, One and Two Family Housing District
-Variance from relief from the maximum permitted stories and height of a principal structure in the NC (Neighborhood Commercial Zone) and the R-1, One and Two Family Housing District

The next Zoning Board meeting is scheduled for March 3 at City Hall for all neighbors who wish to attend and express any concerns.

The attorney for this project is:
Charles J Harrington, III
Connell Foley, Jersey City

Con Vivo Music and Art House Productions present:
Perfect Lives Jersey City
An opera by Robert Ashley
Arranged and performed by Varispeed with Con Vivo Music
Saturday, September 19, 2015
A FREE Day-Long Music Event

In a small Midwest town, two traveling musicians and two local siblings hatch a plan to take all the money from the Bank across state lines to Indiana for one day and then bring it back, thus performing the perfect crime? or a work of art. Originally released in the 1980s as episodes of a music-based BBC television show, Perfect Lives is Robert Ashley?s quirky, energetic, and philosophical modern opera, adapted anew by Varispeed and narrated by the band and guest musicians. Its seven episodes weave the intersecting stories of people in the American Midwest, centered around a mysterious crime, an elopement, and the mischief of two itinerant musicians.

Our performance will take place in seven 30-minute episodes at seven Jersey City venues throughout one day. Before each episode we will recap the story so far and between episodes you are encouraged to visit the All About Downtown Festival and open houses at our partner organizations.

Thanks for the replies so far!

We don't have teenagers in the house and we were both home and in bed when the ticket was given. It was given at 3am for double parking.

The only think I can think is a record from our cell phone providers showing we were home, but again that doesn't mean we weren't out driving the car.

I'll give the parking authority a call in the off chance they took a picture.

How can I fight this parking ticket?

Hoping folks have some suggestions here! Back in April, I received a Failure to Appear notice in the mail for a parking ticket. Having never received a ticket, I looked up the address for the violation. It's a neighborhood I've not been in. And I remember that night. Both of the licensed drivers in my household were home and asleep at the time.

I showed up to court to explain, but I have to go to trial. The ticket correctly lists the make and model of my car. My first thought was that the license plate was keyed in incorrectly, but not sure how the make and model matches? Unless the license plate number pulls in the make and model from my registration?

I'm happy to pay fines where I was in the wrong, but I'd like to fight this one. Any ideas? This would be my first time in traffic court.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

TNR for Feral Cats?
#7

Hi all - We were hoping to help TNR feral cats in our neighborhood, but have run into some roadblocks. Animal Control won't pick up any stray animals for TNR, and a few of the non-profits we called say we need to drive the trapped cats to their facility, and keep them in our home to recover for a few days afterward -- we're not able to do either of those. We also have to pay ~$50 for each cat. We're all for contributing to the cost, but that's a bit unreasonable considering the # of cats we have in our 'hood.

Does anyone have any leads on groups that will pick up a trapped cat and TNR?

Thanks in advance!

Newbie here. The past few days I haven't seen it open and there are curtains covering the windows. I might be just going by during off hours, but curious if they've gone out of business? I was hoping they'd be able to stick around.
