Last-minute furniture pic-up/donations

Moving and was going to dispose furniture that I am unable to sell in my apartment's bulk trash room. Despite it not being in our resident's information packet, we are unable to dispose large furniture such as couches, mattresses, etc within our complex. Jersey City also does not pick up trash at my complex since we're serviced by a private company. Any tips of companies that do last-minute donations of bulk items? You need to arrange weeks in advance for Salvation Army. Don't want to spend hundreds of bucks with Junk Luggers if there is alternative...

Related, anyone want a free queen bed, box spring, mattress, love seat, etc by Thursday afternoon???

If you tossed cash into a bucket at our bike rack fundraisers at The Iron Monkey and Barcade: All that money ($1,500) has just gone into the expanded citywide crowdfunding drive to buy up to 275 racks. Now up to $21,585!

Because this money was collected from lots and lots of mostly anonymous donors, before the voting system was implemented, Bike JC is going to choose where the racks it pays for are installed.

So ... any suggestions?

Grove between Columbus & Wayne. No rack at all and many commuter bikes chained to poles.

What can be done with the abandoned bikes taking up prime rack real estate? I've used the JC iPhone app several times with no results.

Ook, so. U come on here & bitch about it.
Did u get the cars number or the plate & call it in & make a complaint?
I did in all the posts I've posted.

Yeah, I did come on here to bitch about it - it's relative to the topic thread. Cop in car was too far away when I turned around so I couldn't have memorized or taken a photo (phone was in bag) in time. Also, it's "y-o-u".

Has anyone purchased the Super Bowl SmartLink Card? Is there an option on the machine for the Super Bowl card, or is the machine one dispensing the SB cards until each location runs out?

For those interested, they have Super Bowl SmartLink Card dispensers at 33rd for a $5 bill, or $24 cash for a card preloaded with 10 trips. I walked away empty handed since I didn't have a fiver and forgot about this rule since it's been years since I purchased a SmartLink Card.

Anything good going on, specifically in downtown? Haven't seen much advertised and we're two weeks out.

I saw the most horrible thing yesterday afternoon at the corner of Grove and Columbus: A dog zoomed past me heading north on Grove, leash dangling from its neck and the owner in hot pursuit. The dog darted into the intersection and was hit by an east bound truck. I will never forget that awful sound of truck hitting dog and the screams of the owner. The dog eventually got up and continued to run west down Columbus with the owner still chasing. I doubt that it survived but you never know.

Even the most responsible dog owners can have bad luck. Why cheat fate and allow your dog to be purposely off leash? Setting aside the legal ramifications; it just isn't a very bright idea.

K9dergarten just posted about the dog and owner:

Stacy Kiebler and her foster dad Joe were in a hit and run on Grove St in JC Tuesday 7/9 around 2:30pm. We need YOUR HELP to find the driver AND we need you to donate towards her upcoming surgeries. Joe was standing in front of city hall, crossing the street at the cross walk. A car turned onto Grove and hit Joe knocking him to the ground ! He dropped Stacy's leash who ran towards Columbus super scared. Joe got up and ran after her. He saw her pinned under a truck on Columbus and told the driver to move his truck. When Stacy was freed, she ran away into Dixon Mills where people helped to catch her, call the paramedics and the police.

JOE her foster dad is in a lot of pain and will be for several days. He did not have any broken bones. He is mostly concerned for Stacy and we hope both Joe and Stacy get better ASAP !

DID YOU SEE THE CAR WHO HIT JOE ? DO YOU HAVE ANY PICTURES ? PLEASE HELP US STOP ALL THE SPEEDING IN JC ! IF YOU SAW SOMETHING PLS GO TO THE POLICE !

PLEASE CONSIDER DONATING TO STACY'S UPCOMING SURGERY, ESTIMATES RANGE FROM $10-15K. CLICK ON http://tinyurl.com/SSRDonate AND CHECK OFF I'm sending money to family or friends so that we can get the WHOLE AMOUNT. THANK YOU !
