It might be "remote" to you, maybe...

My car was broken into in my driveway a while back, driver side window smashed during the overnight. They took change, an old PalmPilot (Outmoded bit of tech but had data useful only to me), don't know what else. Called JCPD, South Precinct. Officer was prompt to respond, inspected the damage, and turned to leave. I asked "Aren't you going to write up a report?" He answered: "Why?"

Why, indeed...

I live on Kennedy Boulevard in Greenville, a block away from a major heroin distribution center apartment building known to the cops.
I LOVE my house. I own it, it's mine, I'm a JC lifer...
I have lived here for 56 years.
For the past 5 years or so, every morning I can pick up at least a dozen dope "baggies" in front of my gate.
I have cleaned up a USED condom from my driveway. Jesus H. Christ! Screw ELSEWHERE!!!
I have caught a youthful couple screwing in my alleyway. Went after them with the only weapon I had, a kitchen knife...was told by JCPD that I was the aggressor here...(!) MY property being invaded by animals who couldn't find a more private place to procreate...and I am at fault...JEEZ...
Last week I drove up into my driveway to find a "youth" behind my gate...??? WTF??? sicced my dog on her...am sure were the cops to come I'd be the aggressor...:( Turned out she was as much afraid of me as I was of her, it was a wash... but still...

Re: Recommendation for plumber (?) to replace kitchen sink

I need to post "KUDOS" for Byron from "Hutch Mechanicals"...
Got his name from this forum, and had an antique plumbing issue from the origins of my house (1929) Byron was efficient, friendly, knowledgeable ( "Standard stopped manufacturing your toilet bowl in 1933, ma'am..."!). His prices were fair, his work was...spotless. He even found a drip in my basement I knew NOTHING about, which he will be back to investigate later this week.
I worked with Carmine Aumenta before: he did a good job for me for one problem, but with my toilet issue he sent out a guy who basically told me I had to rip out my entire bathroom...then never came back to discuss the ?"WTF??" issues.
I'd recommend Byron to my daughter, if that's a recommendation.
GO HUTCH MECHANICAL!!!!:)

Re: What does this parking sign mean? I am new to town.

That parking sign means nothing: I got a parking ticket on that very corner at about 5:20PM on a weeknight with my daughter sitting in the car!:( She told me a van pulled up (yes, a VAN) and a non-uniformed guy ran out, slipped a ticket under the wiper, then ran back into the van and took off! My car was legally parked, and I happened to be walking our dog at the time of the ticketing. I never understood it, but there's lots I don't understand about my city. Being a "lifer", however, has taught me surrender. The system is larger than I am.
