Re: Jersey City to choose new ambulance provider?

It sounds like there's a lot of confusion and misinformation out there about the bids and the entire process. Why doesn't the Council ask the Medical Center to continue providing the service while the process is better executed by an independent group?

Don't forget that this is still a CAREPOINT and McCabe bid for the contract. One of Carepoint's owners recently bought Tory Burch's mansion in the Hamptons. Their business model involved cancelling most of their insurance contracts and admitting as many patients through the ER as they can. Their strategy is to bring patients through there so they can bill you as an Out of Network patient.

Why are we giving them the ambulance contract to them unless we want more patients being brought through the emergency room (even OB patients)?

Completely flawed process. Few scarier things than McCabe ambulance company (that got dropped by Secuacus for lousy service) being able to run the JC 9-1-1. Are we forgetting how many visitors we're going to have for the SUPER BOWL? Does Mayor Fulop realize HOW embarassing this could all be for Jersey City???

Another great location is on the 2nd Floor of 150 Washington Street in Paulus Hook in the Portside Towers. I think it's corner of Warren and Dudley and is called the Paulus Hook Health Stop. Great ObGYN and primary care (Thota) and you can schedule urgent care appointments online through healthstops.com.

Jersey City Medical Center used to be a dump. Now they are the newest facility in the area and the only one that isn't a for profit. I used to have a neighbor who was a surgeon at christ who frequently said "I wouldn't take my dog to christ hospital if he got sick". He ended up leaving there about six months ago because he told me that Christ hospital, bayonne medical center, and hoboken were all bought by the same owners who demand that all patients be admitted through the ER so they get more money.

I live in Trump towers and unfortunately there arent that many doctors offices close by. Recently I had two very positive experiences with Jersey City Medical Center. I went through the concierge program, that someone mentioned in a previous post, and had a fantastic experience. it was recommended to me by my doorman at Trump. I Was preregistered for my mri, was met by the concierge (suzanne who was terrific), and even met the radiologist who walked me through what he was seeing. The next great experience i had there was at 8p on a saturday night a few weeks ago. My son had a bad eye infection and his pediatrician was closed. I went to libertyhealth.org and clicked "Skip the ER wait". I brought him in at the scheduled time and we were in and out within 30 minutes. Best hospital experience I ever had!
